ADV Films Announces December 7 Release Dates

ADV FILMS ANNOUNCES DECEMBER 7 RELEASE DATES

HOUSTON, November 5, 2004—ADV Films, the #1 producer-distributor of anime in the U.S, is excited to announce the latest batch of hot titles to be released December 7.

PEACEMAKER: OF SWORDS & STRENGTH

ADV Films proudly announced today a December 7, 2004 release date for Peacemaker: Of Swords & Strength, a masterpiece by GONZO Digimation (Full Metal Panic, Chrono Crusade). Adapted from the popular manga, Peacemaker Kurogane, and declared by fans to hold the record of “most amount of blood from one sword slash,” Peacemaker is set in 19th century Japan at the beginning of the Meiji period. Fans of samurai action and intrigue can expect a mix of merciless action and hilarious comedy.

To kill or not to kill? That is the burning question for vengeful young Tetsunosuke Ichimura. Could he actually bring himself to take a life? On top of that, although he's been accepted into the tight-knit ranks of the Shinsengumi swordsmen (sort of), they still won't let him carry a sword. Things start to get ugly when a band of rebel ninjas shows up in Kyoto to kick some Shinsengumi butt! Is Tetsu any closer to finding the elusive strength he longs for? What's the real story behind those peculiar young girls he befriends? And will he ever take a sword in hand?

AQUARIAN AGE: DESTINY

ADV Films is pleased to announce a street date of December 7, 2004 for the DVD release of Aquarian Age: Destiny, the third and final volume in this intriguing series. Adapted from a popular Japanese trading card game, Aquarian Age's original storyline was undertaken by Broccoli (Di Gi Charat). The series was produced by Madhouse Studios (Sakura Wars, Chobits, X) and presented by Victor Entertainment, Inc., (Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040, RahXephon: The Movie) with music composed by Yuki Kajiura (.hack//SIGN, Noir). The mystical series follows the story of a young man who is unwittingly dragged into a cosmic war that has been building for centuries.

Success never comes easy, but for Kyouta, it may not be worth the price! Shingo and Junichi have morphed into the harshest of music critics, pop idol Ryuusei finds fault with everything Kyouta does and girlfriend Yoriko thinks his songs are boring! Of course, Yoriko is not quite herself anymore either. Reveling in her newfound powers, she rather enjoys wreaking havoc on others. And no one seems capable of stopping her madness! Let's not forget Abuto, either: He just decided it's time for Kanae to slice open Kyouta and his friends. Ack! If Kyouta survives this obstacle course, he may get a chance to save the woman he loves, but he'll have to drop everything and take the risk of missing his own debut concert! What's a boy to do?

MUTANT X: SEASON 2, DISCS 9-10

ADV Films today announced a December 7, 2004 street date for Mutant X: Season 2, Discs 9-10, a two-disc DVD release of the final five episodes from the second season of the hot syndicated television series.

Produced in association with Tribune Entertainment, Marvel Studios and Fireworks Entertainment, the Saturn Award-nominated Mutant X stars John Shea as “Adam,” leader of a group of reluctant heroes who are unwitting victims of genetic experimentation with astonishing, and sometimes deadly, powers. They are thrust into situations and secret missions to help others when conventional methods have failed.

Hidden from the eyes of the world, the Genomex Corporation conducted radical genetic experiments. But something went terribly wrong. Now, the human results of the experiments are all grown up -- young mutants… with powerful abilities. There's Shalimar, a sensual and agile feral with human and animal DNA, Brennan, who can fire bolts of electricity from his hands, Jesse, who can instantly change his body from solid as a stone to intangible as air, Emma, a pretty "telepath" who can feel what you feel and turn your emotions against you, and Adam, their leader and, ironically, the scientist who created them.

The Stories:

“Inferno” (Episode 218)

The Mutant X team sets out to stop a vengeful mutant arsonist who's been setting deadly fires. When a heroic fireman dies in a blaze, his spirit enters Emma.

“One Step Closer” (Episode 219)

The Mutant X team must save a prominent Senator's daughter, who is kidnapped. Their efforts are hampered when Brennan's powers begin to mutate out of control.

“Reality Check” (Episode 220)

The Mutant X team faces off against a powerful, Cold War-era mutant who can alter a person's reality - shattering their mind in the process.

“Reawakening” (Episode 221)

Aboard an ocean research vessel, the Mutant X team discovers that the Protocanth - a prehistoric creature believed to be extinct – is stalking the crew.

“Lest He Become” (Episode 222, Season finale)

Shalimar reluctantly reconnects with her estranged father when the Mutant X team learns his company is involved in genetic testing and manipulation.

Mutant X: Season 2, Discs 9-10 ($19.98 SRP) is a DVD-only release including five complete episodes, presented in anamorphic widescreen format. Audio is presented in English 2.0 with closed captioning. Extras include: behind the scenes – stunt filming, image gallery, Mutant X TV promos, interview with Forbes March (Jesse Kilmartin), behind the scenes – props and ADV previews.
