Joy Tashian To Represent Toei's Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo

Joy Tashjian Marketing Group (JTMG) has been named licensing representative by Toei Animation Inc. for its new animated series BOBOBO-BO BO-BOBO, an anime series that will make its U.S. debut this October on the Cartoon Network Toonami block.

BO-BOBO has emerged as one of Japan's most popular newcomers in anime, attracting more than 20 licensees generating $1.3 billion in licensed products sold. Airing on TV Asahi Network in Japan, the 50-episode animated series will assume a prime position on Cartoon Network's Toonami block at 10:30 pm, following the network's highly successful NARUTO.

BOBOBO-BO BO-BOBO takes place in the year 300X, when a tyrannical emperor, Baldy Bald, seeks to prove his authority over the people by waging a “Hair Hunt,” aimed at taking the hair of all the citizenry. While the populace trembles in fear, one man with a Golden Afro rises to take a stand – Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. Together with his fellow partners, Bo-Bobo launches into battle against the “Hair Hunt Troops” to put an end to the “Hair Hunt” once and for all.

“As one of the industry's most respected licensing executives, we are delighted to announce Joy Tashjian as our representative for BO-BOBO. We look forward to working with Joy as BO-BOBO is introduced to the licensing community at the upcoming New York Licensing Show,” said Kanji Kazahaya, coo, Toei Animation.

“We are pleased to continue with our successful association with Toei Animation through the representation of BO-BOBO,” said Tashjian. “Toei ranks as one of today's most significant names in providing children's entertainment, and BO-BOBO is the newest example of the company's never-ending prowess in building properties that turn into major global brands.”

BOBOBO-BO BO-BOBO is based on stories from the popular Japanese manga magazine WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP, published by Shueisha, Inc., also known for introducing other extremely popular content, such as DRAGON BALL Z, YU-GI-OH!, YUYU HAKUSHO, NARUTO and ONE PIECE. The company's North American counterpart, the English version of SHONEN JUMP, is available from Viz Media, a subsidiary of Shueisha, Inc, Shogakukan, Inc. and Shogakukan Production, Co. Ltd.

At the New York International Licensing Show, JTMG is located at booth #1033.

Joy Tashjian Marketing Group, LLC. (JTMG) was formed in 2000 by Joy Tashjian, a licensing and broadcast sales exec with more than 25 years of industry experience. JTMG services range from television property development to global broadcast sales and consumer product licensing.
