Popteen Offers Free Online Manga

NEW YORK - August 9, 2007 – Popteen.com, the U.S. online extension of Japan's leading teen fashion magazine, Popteen, has introduced new features which for the first time make its exclusive manga, “Gal Samurai” and certain stories from the Japanese magazine available in English.

The Japanese Popteen's long-running Gal Samurai manga has recently published its first collected volume, but has never before been available in English. American readers can now follow the adventures of Ran Kirishima as she uses special powers passed down by her Samurai ancestors to undue the wrongs inflicted by local troublemakers on her high school friends. Each month Popteen.com will release a new episode of the exciting story online, free.

Popteen.com will also include monthly excerpts from the Japanese magazine as the “Streets of Shibuya” feature in its Pop Picks Section, providing US readers with a rare inside glimpse at the latest trends in Tokyo street fashion.

“We are very excited to make Gal Samurai and sections of the Japanese Popteen magazine available in English for the first time,” said Andy Meyers, Managing Director for Popteen.com. “As part of our mission, we will continue to bring the latest trends from Japan to our readers.”
