TOKYO, Japan - April 23, 2026 - Laplacian today announced that its occult mystery visual novel, Kugayama Shiori's Death Diary, will be released on Steam following platform approval. The game is written by Kazuki Fumi.
Kugayama Shiori's Death Diary is a mystery visual novel where horror meets occult comedy. Players follow Kugayama Shiori, a ghost who repeatedly takes her own life using different methods in an attempt to recover the memories of her death. Her investigation ultimately leads to a single incident—and the truth behind her demise.
The game features a choice-driven investigation system with over 100 decision points, ranging from major branching choices to lighter, comedic interactions. Players explore locations through a map-based system to uncover clues, encounter ghosts, and unlock new Encyclopedia entries based on their path.
By engaging with various spirits, players gather fragmented testimonies that help piece together the mystery, with some encounters leading to sudden game overs. The Urban Legend Encyclopedia allows players to collect and organize supernatural data, uncovering hidden connections throughout the story.
The narrative branches based on accumulated player choices and discoveries, leading to multiple endings.
Kugayama Shiori's Death Diary will be available for $24.99 on Steam, with a launch discount of 20% planned.
The game supports English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese text, and features full Japanese voice acting.
