They're charging the same price as the hard copies. *hits head against wall*

Well, since they're charging the same price on soft copies vs. hard copies for the moment, guess I'm going to continue buying hard copies, and supporting a certain bookstore at the same time, although I do applaud the effort.

Also, I'll probably be a real diehard about switching to reading on an IPad, as much as I want to support this (very) new way of reading manga. Grew up with books, still read them, will continue to do so until the last book publisher shuts down their printing presses. I'm just old and crotchety like that. Wink

Are they nuts? Or, should I say, are the Japanese nuts?

Wait, I cannot assign blame right......

How....counter productive of them. Shouldn't it be cheaper as its digital images and not the actual books? O.o

I'm happy with buying the books, thanks. Why pay the same only to receive less?

I would buy the titles that I am interested in in digital form, if they had it for any reader and not just the IPad. I have a sony reader and prefer to get books of all kinds on it instead of paper. I still have to get my manga and light novels in paper form, since most places haven't started offering ePub or PDF versions of their publications...

I KNOW. Every time I see an article like this, I click on it to see if a company is finally doing it right. And every time, I see them making the same exact mistake.

Isn't the definition of insanity "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"?

Publishers, there IS a REASON why digital manga hasn't taken off.

More like multiple reasons.

Of course, if they are listed, then the poo-pooers are gonna come out and spout out some dribble that will somehow reinforce their zealous loyalty to them.

There are some series I'd rather buy on the ipad/what have you, like Soul Eater and other running series, but if I'm paying the same price as a hard copy (which are already on the pricey side for a no frills book) then yeaaahhh, I'll be in my used bookstore instead.

What would you say are the reasons? Just curious.

I totally agree that $8.99 is way too high, but what's an ideal price point?
