I'm a giant CLAMP fan, but I never ever really got to see any pictures of CLAMP before. All I know them by are their little self-chibis they usually post in their manga.
So anyway, with that in mind, I found scans from an article interviewing CLAMP, and wow... they are honestly better looking than I imagined. To see the CLAMP ladies go to http://www.hadibou.net/blog/index.php?2004/09/16/78-frau-septembre-2004 |

Wow, I wasn't expecting them to look like that at all. They're all pretty hot if I do say so myself.
I've been shocked at the way some artists look as well. I was expecting Kentaro Miura (Berserk) to be a pudgy, creepy looking guy, but he looks like a pretty normal, if not clean cut guy. This picture is from when he won the Tezuka culteral prize, along with Takehiko Inoue (for Vagabond): http://www.berserkchronicles.com/biografia_file/sTezukaAwardMiuraInoue1.jpg (he's on the left,Inoue's on the right). I think this is Hiroaki Samura as well . The two pictures that he drew of himself that I've seen make him look like a psycho (which would make sense).http://userpages.umbc.edu/~cmould1/images/samura0.jpg |

Hum...Yes, they (CLAMP) look really good. Nanase Ogawa is really cute, isn't she?
. And Takehiko Inoue is kind of...Hum...He doesn't really look as a japanese...But he's either cool, xD.
Thanks for the photos . I belive a thread as "Real life pictures of manga drawers" would really be a great idea!

They're not that hot.
I would say they look like typical "older" asian people we have here in Southern California. Probably because I'm an Asian guy and I've seen better. |

The only other manga-ka pictures I've seen other than the ones posted in here are Naoko Takeuchi and Kaori Yuki, both who are rather attractive.
It's funny how some of have this idea that all comic artist are all very unattractive people. I wonder where the stereotype came from. An oh yeah... is it just me or does Mokona really resemble her manga namesake?

If I've seen Yu Watase, I know you have...
Aren't her pics in the back of her books? I don't know why everyone's making such a fuss. Manga-ka are just normal people. |

I get to put faces on my idols. Now I get to add their pictures to my little shrine in my room, and worship their actual pictures daily. |

Thr reason why I'm excited to see what the faces of CLAMP look like is because normally they have been pretty secretive about what their appearance, never giving their fans a look at their faces. With this article provided, we finally get a chance to see what CLAMP really looks like, instead of chibi drawings, from the back of some of their manga.

Yes, I understand that and I think it's neat too. But, I just think it's funny that everyone seems so shocked that they're not like mutantly ugly or something.

Yea, its not that big of a deal. I think that many people get an image in their heads on what artists look like based on their works, and I'm sure its false alot of the time. One artist who looks exacally like I imagined him (and how he draws himself) is Taiyo Matsumoto. And Inoue's scruffy beard does remind me somewhat of Musashi's new look.[/url] |

Another artist who looks exactly how he draws himself is Ken Akamatsu.

I think, somewhere in the back of our minds many of us have a stereotype of a Manga-ka hunched over a drawing board, never seeing sunlight, with instant Ramen bowls building up by thier work space. Especially if they tend to be secretive. Shows what that stereotype is worth.
That sounds very Japanese, I like it. All the Best, Nani? |
