Bestiality? The only ero anime I know that has that in true form (not monsters or tentacles) is Family of Debauchery episode 1. Rape and abuse I'll give them, because that's very common, but I wish I knew the titles of the said hentai. Interesting to note that the ubiquitous "scenes depicting underage characters" wasn't mentioned.

Wouldn't that depend on the hentai? I wouldn't think an official indictment would add charges if they don't apply to the particular case.

[removed] Rape porn shouldn't be allowed in any form. [removed]. Just because you like a tug or two whilst watching something taboo doesn't mean you should be allowed to. Rape is disgusting in any shape or form.

Again, hard to tell unless we know what the titles in question were.

This is just stupid. As long as it is Hentai and it is not Loli Hentai, he should be let go.

Why would we need to know? The prosecutor knows the hentai in question and has not included that charge against the man.

Wow this is news to me, haven't seen it reported any where else here in New Zealand.

Please don't lump New Zealand in with the insane laws of Australia.

For example the legality of Pornographic materiel from wikipedia

Quote:
Australia
It is illegal to sell or rent X-rated material in all states of Australia, but it is not illegal to possess X-rated material, and the sale or rental of X-rated material is legal in the Northern Territory and ACT. As the Australian constitution prohibits states from regulating interstate commerce, it is legal to purchase pornography from stores in either territory and bring it interstate. This law means the majority of Australian mail order operations for adult material operate from the ACT. Despite the illegality, stores selling X-rated material are abundant in major cities, advertising openly and rarely are the laws enforced in this case.
Ratings for the X18+ category were tightened in 2000 to ban material featuring some fetishes or which appeared to include minors. In 2007 the Howard Government made the possession of X18+ pornography illegal in some Aboriginal communities

Quote:
New Zealand Illegal for sale under 18 years of age, however rarely enforced and "softcore porn" can be sold to anybody of any age unrestricted. Generally liberal, although the most extreme forms of pornography (pedophilia, rape, bestiality, etc.) are classified as objectionable material by the law. Cyber units of the NZ Police actively target online child pornography rings.[64] New Zealand law is permissive, and magazines and other print copy are sold openly at newsstands.

Also from the news article something the judge said,
Quote:
He said the nature of the material was "extremely disturbing", but the fact that it was cartoons put it in a different category from other pornography that involved real victims.

So at least the Judge recognized the difference between cartoons and real people.

The court can't even consider discharging the offender without conviction if he serves a Jail sentence.

Dudes going to get a maximum NZ$10000 fine and possible have his Visa revoked. A lot better than others who have been charged with having Hentai with objectionable material.

So we can discuss it and what level of BS it obviously is.

Has piracy ever been more justifiable?

This is ridiculous. What's the problem with a man's choice in porn? Hentai or not, loli or not; it's his own goddamn choice. The guy's 22, he's perfectly apt to chose what to masturbate to.

If he were raping goats and kids to and fro, okay then, throw him away, but arresting him for possession of "naughty" dvds? Maybe if they were pirated- or, hell, live-action bestiality... still, this is too much.

Well that particular bit is not there. So the level of BS is somewhat reduced. There's no reason to want to artificially inflate what is already there.

Yes, as long as these fictional drawings are of a legal age, then it's perfectly fine.

I'm more surprised people still buy porn (outside collecting doujinshi, which is perfectly fine). Seriously, the only people I can think of who would are old people who don't know about the internet and are computer-challenged.

...Then again, hentai does tend to actually have a story/plot to it compared to your average live-action porn (no matter how illogical/silly)... so if they ever did release a BD boxset of Bible Black I might get it for collector's sake.

What? Why?. I can at least understand when people come in here and claim that all these things should be illegal (even if I think they're dead wrong) but why on earth would you make one legal and not the other. That's just wildly inconsistent.
