Im a new member to this bulletin board (not to bulletin boards in general, mind you) and I am curious to the ratio of people liking which anime more than this one. Helps me get a good idea of the atmosphere here.

So just list your favorite animes.
Mine are:
1. Ranma1/2
2. Ranma1/2 (I'd say Im more interested in this one than any other. Others are just side shows to me).
3. Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Tenchi etc.

To those that have knowledge of a similar thread to this one several pages back, I don't feel like diging through trash =p
Besides, peoples' interests change often.

I got into anime fairly recently so there is alot I haven't seen however I'll post my top five of what I have seen.

(these are not in order)
Perfect Blue
Jin Roh
GTO
Cowboy Bebop
Video Girl Ai(although I can't stand the dub version of it)

I would also like to mention Evangelion and FLCL however I have only seen the fansubs of the first two eps of each so I'll wait until My evangelion boxset arrives and I buy FLCL to include either of those in that list.

Where exactly is the place where people wait for Ranma 1/2 to come to America? 1992? Because it's ...ummm... been available in America for the better part of a decade. In fact, Viz is currently releasing the final season now, which would mean *ALL* of Ranma 1/2, anime-wise, will be available, and DVD box sets of the first few seasons are coming soon. (I hope they release them as individual disks eventually, because I don't want to have to buy every mediocre episodes just to get the few great post first-season episodes, like the Charlotte Cup episodes.)

Or are you waiting for the Cartoon Network to start showing it on TV? That will probably never happen for the exact same reason CN will probably never show Sailor Stars, the gender-bending aspect would make it too controversial for Toonami, whilst Ranma 1/2 is too much of a "kids" anime for Adult Swim (and Dragonball Z isn't?). I think there's a fairly good chance YTV here in Canada will eventually get Sailor Stars, but only because the previous Sailor Moon series have been really popular up here, even when compared to CN; Ranma 1/2 just doesn't have that built-in audience.

My favourite anime list:

Evangelion
Macross Plus
Ninja Scroll
Tenchi Muyo
Ghost in the Shell
Megazone 23 (just for the mecha)
Patlabor

Wanted anime list

Cowboy Bebop
Gasaraki
Dragonball Z movies
Jin Roh wolf brigade

Also I wanted to ask what everyone's opinion of Samurai X, the motion picture was, I watched it and didn't really get into it that much, I figured it may just be the fact that I haven't seen Rurouni Kenshin, but I didn't like the film. Are the other two movies, Trust and Betrayal better than the movie?

In no particular order:

Fushigi Yuugi
Battle Athletes: Victory
Ping Pong Club
Utena
Kodomo no Omocha
KareKano/His and Her Circumstances
serial experiments lain
Boogiepop Phantom

There are a bunch more that I like, but I have to draw the line somewhere. The list'll probably get shifted a *lot* in the coming months, in fact. I'm hoping to progress through some of my backlog (which consists of all the series I liked the first disc of, and haven't been able to finish off yet), as well as pick up some of the starting series.

I didn't think it was a particularly spectacular movie, but I liked the music, and I enjoyed having another chance to see the characters again. The two OVAs (Trust, Betrayal) are MUCH better, and are a must-see for any and all fans of Kenshin. If you'd like more information on the two OVAs, you can find a review of them in the review archives written a couple of years ago (by yours truly). I personally loved them and thought they were an absolutely beautiful work of art.

Favorite Series (in no order)

1. Cowboy Bebop
2. Rurouni Kenshin
3. ANY Gundam Series involving the orginal story line (Zeon vs. Earth Federation)
4. Gasaraki (kinda sucks at the start)

I have never seen any Ranma but my impression of it is that most people have only extreme opinions. They either hate or love it.

It might be under a rock in 2004... Razz [sarcasm]Maybe by some off chance MTV will show it. After all, if Heat Guy J does all right, they could show Ranma 1/2 without fear of the gender-bender.[/sarcasm]
