I was thinking about the whole Animatrix thing and wondered why the matrix directors didn't consider Hideki Anno, eva creator, as one of the directors for the project.
OR, if they did, why didn't he take the offer?

Anno doing a animatirx short would be something.
Any other thoughts out there?

Anno's done some splashy action stuff, but his main concerns seem to be more internal drama. The splashy action stuff of Matrix seems more suited to directors who are action-oriented.

You could say that about lots of top anime directors not involved.Im sure they considered a number of directors and decided that the ones eventually chosen were best fitted. Also I dont suppose the top movie directors like Otomo,Miyazaki.Oshii ect would have wanted to work on it.Personally I dont think Anno would have brought anything to the animatrix that the other directors couldnt.

Yea, the animatrix has many different categorys so different styles where needed for each project. Some artists just didn't fit the bill, but that dosent mean they arent very talented human beings.

My guess(and hope) is the Wachowskis picked their favorite animators, and Anno didn't make that list. That and they want animators on the cutting-edge of the anime industry, not some pretentious a**hole who became successful by referencing(and thumbing his nose at) other anime series. Plus they want the Animatrix to appeal to adults, not whiny(and jaded) teens.

I believe Anno's mostly interested in making live action these days.

If Anno had done an animatrix peice, it would have had to involve Morphius having a relationship with a 14 girl who doesn't talk much, that makes the viewers vaugely uncomfortable.

I like to make broad sweeping genraliztions, too

You don't like Eva, that is fine, but if you make statements like that, then you look like you are the one who is not an adult, but a whiny jaded teen.

Thats true, but he did just do His and Her Ciurcomstance, not real long ago.

I don't think Anno is the best director over, or even that his is as great as alot of people say he is, but Evangelion is one of my favorite series, and he will never ever find the kind of sucess in anything else as he did in Eva.
