Samuel L. Jackson has signed on to star in and co-produce "Afrosamurai," a live-action feature film adaptation of Takashi Okazaki's manga property.

Maybe this is his chance to play with swords; since QT didn't let him in Kill Bill Vol. 2 (he only played the blind musician Rufus).

I remember reading about this new series in May while I was lurking around Anime News Network. This was around the time Adult Swim announced its premiere of Samurai Champloo. Maybe that's why the press release didn't get much coverage here? Who can say?
