You have GOT to be [expletive] kidding me? Again? Again!

Scew this. This is what I get for waiting for a local release. Is it asking too much that they don't wait until two weeks prior to the release date before announcing delays? Gundamnit.

We better at least get Last Order now, and a English cast list.

I'm usually all for patience and local releases, but I must admit this is getting a bit tiring. I really goes to show that a videogame company is involved with the release when the release date is pushed back over and over and over.

AARRRGGHHH!!!!

And I was soooo looking forward to receiving my movie next weekend!! Why the HECK must they wait until a WEEK before it's scheduled to be released to announce it's been delayed by months?! Imagine all the holiday sales they are screwing themselves out of? Good god!

On the other hand, I'd kill to see the movie in a theater near me. Smile

Can't say I'm too surprised. It's gotten to a point where you wake up wondering how far AC has been pushed back today. January is still better than the release date Gamestop is giving, April 3, 06. I just feal bad for the people that actually thought the movie was coming out this month despite neither Sony or SE sending out press releases, giving out official dates, running an "official" english trailer, or naming the cast. At this point even January seems too early.

Theatrical release. Right. Everyone, young and old, is gonna flock to the theaters to see some "violent pornographic Chinese cartoon" based on a video game they've never heard of. Bad move on Sony's part. Good thing I'm not into FF, otherwise I'd be sending death threats to Sony for delaying this movie almost 5 times. They better not start releasing anime regularly.

Yeah, because that's what everyone will think it is. Let's try to be a little less bias shall we?

As for the video game they never heard of? I doubt there's many who aren't familiar with FF7, I ceertainly don't know many, even people that don't play RPG's are familiar with it. I do suggest you follow through with the death threats idea though, the resulting chain of events might benefit us all.

Well, I have to say that I've seen it (with good subtitles) and I really didn't understand most of the references since I had never played FFVII. It looked beautiful but wasn't super enjoyable.

It wasn't until I wached it with my little brother in law (a 13 year old who borrowed my wife's old FFVII Game copy about a year ago) and was able to explain all the events. All the sudden the movie made a lot of sense and it was very enjoyable!

Unfortunately, most people may not have this benefit and will feel lost and dissapointed. Hopefully, if it gets a theatrical release, they will provide a guide book of some kind for the movie patrons. The DVD should definitely have this (if it doesn't, people should read up on the story first)

In any case, I think it is obvious that Sony wants to get in on the Oscar action for recognition and possible upsales later on.

I'm pretty sure they have very low expectations for what kind of theatrical business they will get out of this (people still have a sour taste in their mouth from the last FF theatrical fiasco)

Depends on the age group, I know plenty of people who don't know what FFVII is, and that call anime "Japanimation."
But yes, Squenix...revolts me, as per their usual attitude towards something resembling good sense, but Squenix shall continue to receive blood money from me for Kingdom Hearts titles(CoM not withstanding) and the occasional good FF game...
And maybe I can forgive all of their past and present transgressions if they would take three years of time and remake FFVII for the PS3, if they could do that, then they've still got enough soul invested in video games and fans to actually care worth a damn.

Actualy, if you would have paid attention to websites, they have had the release date anywhere from Jan 10th - April 4th for some time now.

All pre-orders had there date changed to show it was now January 10th nearly a month ago, and for once they are all synchronized. To me this is old news, but if they're going to have a limited theatre release, then they should have announced it a few months ago instead of waiting until a few days before it'll be in theatres. frankly having it in theatres in November and December is dumb anyway because there are to many big movies coming out.

Isn't anybody worried about the Root Kits? Surly this film must have some sort of copy protection on it from the BGM like Sony has been putting on its CD's

This could have been an attributing factor for this movies delay, sony is getting sued by cali and various other company's for putting DRM Root Kits onto its products, the reason why they pushed this back was probably due to the fact that it HAD the same software on this movie.

What I wanted, but just a tad too late. Make it a full theatrical release, damnit. None of this wimpy "LIMITED." The fans have waited long enough.

The key word here is "limited". They aren't looking for flocks of people, they're looking for the big fans. More than likely this is gonig to ammount to touring the movie from major city to major city (four or five between US and Canada) and then maybe some art house theater showings after that, but nothing more.

The limited theatrical release doesn't bother me at all, a lot major anime movies have done that as well. It's the constant push backs with SE denying that dates have ever been set that bugs me.

No...because you can't put Root Kits on set top DVD players (and since they are not networked, it serves no purpose).

The only copy protection set top DVD players have is CSS (for digital) and Macrovision (for analog). If Sony put something else on, then the DVD's would not play (unless you bought a special DVD player Sony). The industry would actually love to have something other than CSS ( as my grandmother could rip a DVD) but then everything would lose compatibility.
