The new FLCL manga from Tokyopop is cool and all but it wasn't what I really wanted. The FLCL from Tokyopop is by Ueda, Hajime. The FLCL I was expecting was the one from Enokido, Yoji.

What are the chances that Mr. Yoji's manga will be licensed in America. And to anyone whose read them both, which do you prefer?

no one knows?!
Don't tell me I'm crazy!

I think the small bit of manga in the FLCL vol. 1 booklet was from Enokido, Yoji. right? I'm not making things up again....

Sasuga has too versions of the manga too so I can't be crazy!

Well I read the both versions.
And I prefer the one from Enokido, Yoji. The whole drawing style seems little crazy at the beginning but after awhile you start to see that it is a part of its unigue style.

Well, I see you live in Poland but in America Hajime Ueda's version has been licensed and translated And I'm almost certain he's the one with the unussual style.

There's a second version?!?!

I got the one by Hajime Ueda. I really liked the art, but it seemed quite a bit was different from the Anime.

What was the order of release for the anime and both manga series?

Well, I saw the little manga excerpt in the booklet for the anime then the manga by Hajime Ueda and I could definitely see they were not the same. I went to sasuga books and did a little searching and found there was another version of the FLCL manga by Enokido, Yoji with totally different looking covers. I was curious if it had potential of officially being translated to english because I need more! lol! Oh, and it was three volumes long.

I checked a little, the guy who wrote the 3 volume Manga series also was a scriptwriter for the OVA.

I guess this means it would follow the script of the ova more closely than the series by Hajime Ueda.

Does anybody know the order of releases for the 2 manga series and the ova? Im interested in finding out what was the firt version of FLCL.

Hope i'm not getting off topic, but this reminds me of the 2 Cowboy Bebop mangas. One series was 3 volumes long and closely resembled the anime, while the other one (Shooting Star) was 2 volumes and much different. Actually, i hated some of the things about Cowboy Bebop: Shooting Star, mainly the fact that Ed was changed to a boy. It just didn't work for me.

But since Tokyopop released both versions of Cowboy Bebop, maybe they'll release the second version of FLCL also. Although i wish there was a way to request manga from places like Tokyopop so that we could get an English version tanslated. That way we could get the other version of FLCL for sure and request a few of our favorites that have yet to make it over here. If i knew of a way i would request the Jungle Guu manga. ^_~

There is a way. There's an ongoing survey on Tokyopop.com that you can fill out with whatever titles you want licensed, and they'll listen.

Thanks for the info on that. Hmm, the odd thing is that it seems i have already participated in that survey... I don't remember doing that, but i guess you only get one shot at it... <per email address Twisted Evil >

[please note, i am not really thinking about spaming them.]

That's a pain... I wonder if I could do it again. The titles I asked for have all been licensed already.
