I was really bore and I decide to watch Comcast On Demand anime and I stumble upon Solty Rei. My first impression of it is pretty good but I do not like how an ass Roy is to Rei. I know he lost his daughter but he could at least be nicer to the girl who save him twice. Even though the Bounty hunter bit has been done plenty of times they excute it well enough to keep me interested. Note: I only seen episode 1 but the show kelt me interested enough to watch all the episodes on Comcast On Demand and might buy the DVD.[/b]

I must admit, my first impression of the series was mostly due to the inadvertently suggestive artwork in the banner ads for the series. Upon hearing the synopsis it certainly didn't make me want to see it, it sounded like a typical tired storyline to me. However, since most of the buzz surrounding the show seems to be pretty good at this point I may have to give it a try anyways.

Same here. I'm a little unsure when it comes to shows like Solty Rei, but I keep hearing a lot of good things. Keep the recommendations coming.

Solty Rei was one of my favourites from the Fall 2005 season. While the concept isn't really anything new, the content kept me coming back for more, and I personally loved the supporting cast. Especially Accela (Mamiko Noto all the way! ) I also thought that Roy's treatment to Solty was rather cruel, but he warms up to her. Eventually.
It doesn't have the most unique plot out there, but I liked the execution of the series, and the ending seemed pretty good to me. It at least deserves a shot in my book.

I bought the pre-ordered the first volume on sale blind, and AoD's "C" grade for content gave me some reason for concern. However, I'll still go into it (hopefully) with an open mind, based on comments from those who have already seen it.

I'd imagine that would be a set up for character development/arc.
I have only seen the trailer, but the seemingly positive things people have been saying have nearly convinced me to buy the starter set when it comes out next week.
Through both trailers and synopsis that I have read, I'm reminded of both Armitage III and Burst Angel, would that be somewhat accurate? A detective that lost someone important getting teamed up with a cyborg chick and the city being run by syndicates and crime bosses (though this set up is common), Anyways, yeah, I'd too like to hear from people who've seen this one.

I had only watched around 8 episodes before it was licensed and so I refused to download it anymore. But from those episodes, I really liked this show. I don't like how Roy is an arsehole to Rei and the freaking thief family started out annoying but then became actual characters (well the sister anyway) and it became an interesting show. But now I need to get the rest of it....

I watched the first 2 episodes at Nekocon this past November. I liked it myself. The plot may be a bit over used in terms of it's lack of originality, but the characters really seemed to shine through. I think the characters are well drawn and that they are done very well and there's a nice amount of depth to them. This is obviously an early assumption so I'll watch the first 2 dvds when they come out to see if it really is worth it or not. So far though it seems like it could shape up to be a very nice show. I've also always liked Chris Sabat's voice work myself.
