Well, I can't say I'm too surprised about this.

Wow, I am surprised it wasn't already on the Otaku' clock scheduling based on the first episode content.

Oh please. We all know junior high and high school kids watch way worse stuff on the internet. They can handle it.

Does time airing really matter that much, since the advent of the VCR and today the DVR, to Junior High and Senior High schoolers. Odds are they have their own TV, and can wake up in the middle of the night to watch these types of series, if they don't have a means of recording.

We are just as guilty in that thinking too.

Funny thing is that you can watch risque live action stuff in prime time, but when it is anime, it is 'save us from the corruption' time.

While the change makes sense, does it strike anybody else as weird that of all the stuff they could have pointed out about objectionable material, they went with

Quote:
aired with scenes which include sexual depictions, such as a high school girl masturbating.

?

Seems like banning "A Serbian Film" because the characters swear a lot.

Space Dandy airs a half hour later, surprised they didn't have a fit about the titty monster.

Also shut up it's 10:30 at night your kids have already had their nightly wank to Internet porn but they can't watch censored ecchi on TV? Wut.

Dontcha know? Highschoolers aren't supposed to masturbate, they're kids! They don't turn into adults until 20 years old! Therefore any jokes or implicit depictions about that on TV when they're awake is verboten! Laughing

Anyways, it was probably why Lupin III Fujiko Mine aired at 1:30am despite being part of a fairly mainstream franchise. At least they still got to air it completely uncensored though.

The horror. Really, what's stopping a Japanese teen from accessing any random porn streaming service, like xhamster? They don't have the Great Firewall of Japan.

Nothing. But there is a small but extremely loud group of people who feel so strongly that anything sexual and or violent is the cause of all problems in society and they will do what they can to eradicate what they perceive as a plague upon their peaceful little island. It's literally "I don't like it. I find this offensive. I don't think YOU should be watching it because I don't approve. I know better than you".

Hahahahaha........... Japan cares about its kids too! Laughing

It's to cover their ass. Sure, kids could do all those things themselves. But it only takes 1 controversy to embarrass the TV network and have the head honchos bowing their heads asking for forgiveness (that's how it's done in Japan). But when it's past midnight, they can always use the excuse that it's past the kids' bedtime, so why are the parents keeping them up? See, ass covered, business goes on.

You do realise that that's how it works in other countries too, right? In New Zealand both Comedy Central and E! air risque programs featuring nudity and sex after midnight.

There's a difference between knowing something happens and facilitating it yourself.
