I'm still kinda confused about how this actually plays. It doesn't seem traditionally turn-based?
People pointed to an older game called Ogre Battle, and that just left me more confused as to whether I'll like this or not.

The combat looks more like a mish mash of Odin Sphere & Grand Kingdom the latter of which is turned based.
