Needless to say, this is all sorts of insane. Mahjong manga had always been the obvious no go for decades due to how utterly niche of a subject it'd be in English, but at the same time I guess if anybody was to actually give it a go then it'd have to be an actual mahjong company.
Going with Koizumi as their debut title is also really ballsy, due to it parodying actual political figures (some of which are still alive) & it's length (16 volumes). Should Mahjong Pros managed to get the physical release going I'll certainly support it, because Koizumi is absolutely ridonculous & amazing, and I'm curious to see if there is now enough of a niche fanbase for mahjong over here that will support mahjong manga in English.

I never expected to see this one get a Western release, but I'm totally down for it.
I no longer have to sound like a crazy person when I talk about "That manga where they play Mahjong in an oxygen tent with depleted uranium tiles and our hero self-immolates to cheat by crushing off the tile surfaces
or
George Bush Jr gets a Skull and Bones Society power-up
(Yes, both of those are things that actually happen in this series)

Oh, man. I'm excited for this one. Never thought it'd see the light of day in an official English release.

If anything it hits even weirder given its portrayal of Vladimir Putin. Also, Pope Benedict XV has since resigned and then died.
Jury's still out on Moon Hitler.

Publishing an old mahjong manga with one of the most prominent current war criminals as the stoic, no-nonsense heroic lancer character who also has cheeky sitcom-rivalry with a leader of the country he later invaded and who he tried to get killed a few times... Now that's certainly a choice!

It’s best to look at it as “any relation to any person, living or dead, is merely coincidencidental” due to how problematic the real-world figures are.
