The first episode really did not do it for me. I have come to learn that I can handle one annoying/mean character in a romance/harem show but when there are multiple I easily nope out, especially so when the season has other romance shows on offer (on the same day even).

Thus a drop, I think Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive? has really made me critical of continuing with romance shows that have horribly annoying characters.

Episode 1

Oh, smurky, smurky, smurky...

*sighs sadly*

How badly you have misjudged both Blondie and Auntie NEET. You probably think Blondie is a terrible person because (among other things) she ruined that garden, right? Except, my fine judgmental friend, I'm pretty sure she did that because her family was moving away and she knew that Naoto was going to be crushed, so she destroyed the garden so that he would hate her instead of being emotionally distraught over her leaving. If you had a loving, sensitive heart like mine, you too could have figured that out, YOU MONSTER!!! (...hee hee hee...)

As for Auntie NEET... she's AWESOME. Short, bespectacled and weird as hell, just how I like 'em. This is off to a good start for me.

Smurky, I sympathize with the trauma that comes from having an anime come along that hits buttons from an anime you just watched. I'm going through something similar with that anime about a girl dating her sister's ex. The parents are so over the top awful and the romantic interest is so glaringly perfect that it reminds me of the Too Perfect Saint dynamics, and I don't think I can sit through 12 episodes of that again.

On the other hand, I dumped the anime about Best friend relationships after 3 episodes, and not only does that give me the right to gloat, it means I'm not traumatized.

Me, I'm not sure what the hell to make of this anime. I'm going to assume the blonde either didn't really destroy the garden but is taking the rap, or did it for some reason that is a strange blend of innocence and bizarre logic. She does seem a bit extra.

And the sister's behavior doesn't bother me because it doesn't look like there's any of *that* kind of anime crap going on, and she's ten and she lost her parents a year ago.

The aunt is a comedy foil, pure and simple.

And the school council type is obviously the pure foil to the blonde. Like Kosaki in Nisekoi. She's starting out with a clear advantage, but the blonde seems destined to be making up lost garden...I mean, lost ground...in order to create tension.

But does that mean I like it? It doesn't mean I dislike it...

Waiter, another two episodes!

Geez, I went on a trip for the weekend and I'm still trying to catch up to all the anime I missed between Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. It feels like trying to bail out a boat with a big hole in the bottom as new anime keep rushing in.

Anyway, I still have no idea how I feel about Watari-Kun's ****** is About to Collapse except that I'm not bored, and I am intrigued enough by the mystery around the blonde's behavior to want to find out more.

The basic premise seems to be that Watari Kun has three weird and challenging women in his life (sister-san, stalker-san, and aunt/landlord-san) and they're going to keep intruding on the natural progression between him and a sweetheart hottie of a crush who seems to like him back. And, probably, stalker-san is going to keep making forward progress while the rays of sunlight that are currently illuminating normal, easy to root for san are going to keep fading and dimming into background.

I see what Smurky means about that line between comedy and irritation. When comedy is done right, the irritation (Office, first five seasons, Konusuba, first two seasons) is hilarious, and when it's done wrong, you just want to see the offending characters get punched in the face. At the very least, I don't want to see anybody get punched in the face on this anime yet.

@ Edjwald: Welcome to Firehose Season. I am currently at 38 shows and there are still a few premieres left. Right now, I have in terms of number of shows on each day:

M: 3
T: 3
W: 4
Th: 5
F:7
S: 7
Su: 9

And the super fun part? Beginning this Saturday, I'm going to be out of town visiting family for two weeks which severely restricts the amount of anime I can watch. The only good thing about that is when I tend to fall behind as badly as that, it makes filtering out shows a lot easier as I think, "meh, do I really NEED to catch up with this?"

Yeah, missing out on a weekend or two episode wise means having quite the backlog. I will fully enjoy the 39 shows on my list though since next season is very much not one for me (as is I will go from 39 to like 15).

Hmmmn...I certainly don't mind doing a tally, but I haven't watched the pilot episodes of Tougen Anki or There's No Freaking Way I'll Be Your Lover! Unless... or the second episodes of Turkey! Time to Strike or Gachiakata or City: The Animation yet. So, I'll have to get back to y'all on that one.

But I did do a tally, and I have at least 25 anime that are looking locked in or solid, and 10 that are varying degrees of provisional including the 5 mentioned above.
