Not surprised Netflix is involved given how heavily they are involved with Kdramas.

Even with Netflix bankrolling this, I wonder how the CGI/look of the world will hold up.

In before the "Netflix adaption" memes but I feel like this is a hard story to adapt into live-action with all the action and monster fights.

I suddenly realize making a live action version of Solo Leveling might actually be harder than making a live action version of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint.

Given it’s a Korean production with Korean actors, those memes aren’t really applicable.

Still, this is going to need a top notch effects studio. Netflix managed to get the effects studio that handled the Monsterverse movies for Yu Yu Hakusho, a similar level of effects will be necessary here.

There’s almost no way this will be good, but I’ll probably watch for the laughs.

No idea why this is necessary when the anime exists and is still ongoing and will most assuredly be better in every way. Unless there's not going to be a season 3 of that.

This is the fans fault for voting season 1 as anime of the year isn't it?

Well, I suppose we'll see. Will it be a One Piece or a Cowboy Bebop?

As long as Byeon Woo-seok can show me his hot [expletive] abs, I’ll be there. Very Happy

In all seriousness, I hope they try to do this similar to the success of One Piece. Solo Leveling is a fairly good story. Just don’t give it the Saint Seiya feel or this won’t be a success.

Season 3 has not been announced and the director has consistently stated that it won’t happen without the support of the fans.

None of the above? This is a completely different production with completely different circumstances. Netflix simply gets distribution and co-production dibs.

Did season 2 flop or something because.....that sounds absolutely insane to me.

Season 2 did the opposite of flop from every discernible metric.

And yet not enough for an immediate renewal?

It's been almost three months since S2 concluded.

It's still the single hottest property of the past few years. That s3 hasn't been announced yet probably means that there's some behind-the-scenes wrangling going on, so it's just a matter of time.

That aside, I'm very dubious that this will work well. But I also didn't think One Piece would translate well to LA format either, so. . .

I feel the One piece LA did so well only because Oda himself was heavily involved with the project, like you I’m dubious Solo leveling can transfer well to Live action but I guess we’ll see.
