At some point I'd like to read an in-depth article on Diamond's rapid fall from grace after covid in 2020, and the reasons behind that led to it. I bet it would make some fun reading..

I am glad KANA has a new distributor. One of my favorite comic book shops stayed with Diamond till last month. Unfortunately these last three weeks of releases has been empty of small press manga titles. I had finally ordered from B&N a title from KANA and another from ALIEN.

To say five years is rapid road to bankruptcy is oversimplification. The rollercoaster of Diamonds demise began with Marvel Cinematic Universe movie One not manifesting into legions of new comic book fans and ended with non-payments and bankruptcy court. It would be really nice if ANN did a multi-part article, similar to some of the multiple issue debates out of ProtoCuture Addicts.

There are a lot of different factors from Diamonds different revenue streams, the bookstore implosions of 2012, financial business decisions with European investors, which tightened the purse strings, Diamond turning against small press comics temporarily, to the take over of pop culture fandoms all under the umbrella of a monopoly.

Bleeding Cool has some pretty good articles about the Diamond decline and fall. Mostly focused on the U.S. comics and collectibles side of things.

"Kana" is the name of a French manga publisher, which is affiliated with Dargaud Editions, a very big name in France. Is there any relation with them?

EDIT: oh, I see they are publishing mangas already published by Ki-oon' (another French publisher). Still, it's intersting they have taken that name.
