This reminded me of those rumors about the direction of Chainsaw Man's next works being more faithful to the manga than the first season and whether or not movies have liberties with putting more adult content just like what happened with Kizumonogatari

Season 1 was faithful. There was just a clash of opinion over it's direction and style.
The movie looks like a good compromise between those camps.
Continuing CSM as movies? The next assassins arc could work, but I think the final 2 arcs after that of Part 1 combined are too long for a movie and would lose A LOT by being condensed; unless they split it in 2 parts, but they are too closely connected following each other and splitting them would suck.
At best they can do the next arc as a movie, then a Final Season for Part 1.
I'd prefer they just go right to a lengthier Season 2 following Reze, as while the Assassins Arc as a movie would also be cool, it'd mean a longer wait; but... with a movie budget and quality it would also be super awesome. Also... because there's some adult content in there... which is likely what the interview mentioned was under consideration, but I'd be okay if they toned it down. The manga didn't have much more than a few panels, which isn't required to be made into a full more-animated explicit scene other than for the sake of titillation that adds nothing to the story.
Whatever they decide... I just don't want any of the story following Assassins split up. It's better running as a continuous season.

Also, removing or toning down the orgy but showing children getting shot up is a different level of messed up.

Both those moments can be directed and depicted tastefully for broadcast standards without losing their context or impact.
