Ver well deserved, especially after that post credit teaser.

It feels a little early for a S2. The current arc just started in the manga and is nowhere near finish unless the plan is to air S2 sometime next year.
Also as someone who has read the manga quick warning you might not like the next arc.

Nice, the first arc was already good and it's getting even better after imo.

Good to know. Going through the first season, it sort of felt like a two cour show in terms of pacing, so I was hoping that a second season would at least be announced.

spoiler[It isn't explained in the episode, we see it in a post credit scene with no explanation.]

With Crunchyroll as part of the production committee, I figured this show had a better-than-usual chance of getting a second season, and I'm glad this is the case. Definitely one of the highlights of the season for me, with solid production values and a dark fantasy story that goes unexpected places and doesn't feel like a hodgepodge of RPG cliches.

I haven't watched it all yet, but I am not surprised. It's impossible to solve all the mysteries and plots except with a "Our battle has just begun!".

spoiler[I'm guessing Alicia and/or Princess gets very messed up and Klein has to duct them together like he did for Troll girl.]

It wouldn't be the first series that had a wait of years between the announcement of a second season and said season actually debuting.

As an example, I wonder how many people recall that "The Saga of Tanya the Evil" had a second season announced a bit over 4 years ago?:
animenewsnetwork.com/news/2021-06-19/saga-of-tanya-the-evil-tv-anime-gets-2nd-season/.174179

As perhaps a more relevant example, the second season of "The Rising of the Shield Hero" had a 3 year gap between announcement and debut.

I'm not in love with Clevatess, but it's managed to hold my attention in a packed season, so getting a second cour is deserved. I was initially very interested in the idea of Clen staying on to be the prince's tutor, because court intrigue is fertile ground for storytelling.

Then the post credit scene showed Clen and Alicia in *shudder* school uniforms. Ye [expletive] gods, if this "dark fantasy" is going to turn into another bog standard magic academy structured like a Japanese public school (or worse: Hogwarts with the serial numbers filed off), I'm dropping this series like a rock.

This is one of my top two or three series for the season and my highest-priority view in any given week, so I'm very pleased it's getting more animation. A little concerned that spoiler[the apparent shift to a school setting] is going to detract from the gritty fantasy side of the story, though.
