Pretty much every modern fantasy anime original manga is half cooked these days. If this was an isekai I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Titles like these tend to blur into each other.

I personally liked it and at least we had a 30s MC which is rare. Food did look good reviewer is wrong.

I think it was nice, it reused the same elements as MC in his 30s so people like us could be related to him,

Outcast, fantasy, ecchi, sort-of-goblin-slyaer-elemets-just-not, overall do what most animes/mangas/novels do these days which aside lack of creativity does nothing wrong over,

Unlike the reviewer I'm also all in for the ecchi and give me respects for works that got guts to show these kind of stuff these days, cause you know, people tend to think that the world is all rainbow and marshmallows even in animes, so they rather these kind of stuff won't be shown at all, which I'm not agree with one bit

Rare? we have been getting more mid 30s protagonist in the fantasy/isekai genre in the last 5 years than we had with actual teenagers. Yes im counting those reincarnated.

The previous generation that grew up when it boomed have more or less self inserted themselves into the work they were inspired to create.

Not everyone fantasy anime needs to show bloody sexual assault to be taken seriously! Also when your ankle is presented as something light hearted and fun seeing a woman violated really ruins the mood.

While I rated this series slightly higher than Jeremy did (at a C overall), I agree with nearly all of his comments about it and share most of his criticisms. (The only one I mildly disagree with is the one about how the food looks.) I thought this one showed some potential at the halfway point, but was disappointed about how it devolved into just an ordinary "banished" story in the end.

I agree that Outcast wasn't exceptional, but I enjoyed the restaurant theme and found the political intrigue and social interactions credible. It's a low-stakes, feel good anime with plenty of dark moments, especially the spoiler[book-burning], which is initially brushed off but then returned to more seriously. I think it's nearly one of the "best of the season," though unlike most people, I didn't respond much to the headliners this season... If you like food, slice-of-life, adventurers and court politics, it's not a bad choice.
