I am not sure if I am overly critical this season or if the average quality is just that much lower than in Summer. Anyway, Inexpressive Kashiwada is another example of getting exactly what is stated on the tin. One character is very subtle in showing her emotions and the other is a fairly annoying loudmouth with no filter. The first episode had some fun moments but by the end the premise was already feeling played out and Oota is not a character I like all that much.

Another episode can't hurt.... I guess.

This show confuses me in that Oota's actions are supposed to be crude yet cute/fine in some situations yet too much in others. Most of the things he does and especially because he does them on the regular are bullying or very close to it. Tabuchi calling him out thus makes sense yet she is not all that much better either. I am trying to enjoy the show for the light-hearted comedy that it is but Oota and his actions are hard to stomach.

Or am I just being too sensitive?

Yeah, too much of his actions do feel like just bullying. Such that it feels like it really shouldn't matter that he obviously has a crush on her to some extent, he really is still just bullying her because she doesn't express emotions like most people do. From a personal experience, it is pretty autistic coded, Similar to what I have heard about a girl on the autism spectrum that would get picked on in that way people might say he just has a crush on her, but all the same it really hurt the mental health of the girl.

It shouldn't have mattered her grandmother is still alive, that the ties were only 100 yen and that he got soaked looking for them, he shouldn't have touched her belongings and had them at risk in the first place. I might continue with the show, but I think that if I see him act in a similar way I probably would just be done.

Episode 3 was thankfully a bit more mild in regards to Oota's actions. He is still annoying but if it stays at a similar level than it is more cute than annoying and given the flashback at the end it makes sense for Kashiwada to appreciate the attention. The teacher might be my favorite character of the bunch since he is trying to be a good teacher while being rather awkward.

Dear God, the "pronouns" war has broken people's brains. If you have a cat of unspecified gender, you don't have to call it "them", you can just call it "it". It won't get offended, because it's both fictional and also a cat.

No, no, no, the proper way to refer to a cat is "Your Royal Highness".

I like how it is obvious to everyone but Ootu himself that he should just stop the pretense that going to the movie with Kashiwada was anything but a date.

Seems like Oota his sister is also a little bit on the unique side, not nearly as annoying as he is though. I also have to wonder why Oota has not been suspended yet given that whenever something goes wrong the whole class just knows it is him doing something stupid.

That people want to eat putrefied fish (Surströmming) reminds me of a joke about the Swedes, but I would get in trouble in retelling it.

Oota should have been punished for ruining the class party by being made to eat the Surströmming.

You're now reminding me of a comedy sketch with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry from a British TV special from 2000 about the Treaty of Westphalia where they make comments about the Swedes being obsessed with pickled herring.

Interesting episode in that it suggests that Oota's way of interacting with Kashiwada is (possibly) more than just him being a twat. Some of his actions might be because he thinks she is lonely and needs a friend. The way he goes about things is still plain stupid though. The flashback explains why Kashiwada started the show off liking Oota.

I will watch the show until the end since I like some parts of it but boy has Oota not grown on me in the slightest. He remains annoying and at times a bully. When the gang is enjoying themselves and Kashiwada is surrounded by friends it is fun though.

Odajima-san is a great and surprisingly effective addition to the show. She is the perfect counter to Oota and she is the mischievous type that keeps things from getting stale between the characters.

Looking back on my previous posts I am not sure why I watched until the very end.
Oota is still annoying but he got less annoying as the episodes progressed and the other characters were fun enough I guess. If it had been a busier season I would have bailed after the first two episodes.
