First we get Aikatsu, now we get Milky Holmes. But it's funny that we're getting a detective season so soon after Wonderful, which a bunch of people thought would be detective or mystery-themed just because Iroha had a deerstalker hat

From idols to detectives.

I wonder if we're going to get villains or maybe a female antagonist/future Cure who is styled after a Phantom Thief. Then again they kind of already did that with Cure Cosmo.

So all those detective episodes from past Precure series has finally converged! Laughing

Maybe I'm reading it too much but that clock on the logo; could time traveling be involved?

I hope the star in the title is an indicator of some sort of space aesthetic being incorporated, even though it seems much more likely to be a detective season rather than a space detective season.

the Japanese title means Great/Famous Detective Precure
名 -> the "Great/Famous" part -> "Star" (a skilled or famous person)

The star in this case isn't hoshi or suta (like with Star Twinkle), it's mei. Which isn't used for the celestial bodies, it's about someone or something being famous or generally well-regarded. So the chance of it involving space beyond maybe some aesthetics is very low

This is really how I should remember the on reading of this kanji but I'll probably forget it in like a week.

But yeah, the title is literally the Japanese title for Detective Conan but it's Detective Precure. Kamen Rider W was the first analog that came to mind, but I also remembered like old Showa magical girls were about helping solve people's problems with magic, so I could see that being the main story loop.

Or, it could be like Scooby-Doo except the monsters are real and get punched to death instead of being wannabe land barons who fall in a hole.

If Super Sentai is anything to go by, then PreCure should be around for a least another 27 years.

As an aside, I'm curious about PreCure. Is there a good starting point? Or should I just start from the beginning since that first show is available on streaming?

Precure isn't really comparable to Super Sentai, unless Toei decides to produce another magical girl series aimed at young girls that constantly outperforms Precure in the near future

Starting point doesn't really matter besides the obvious of not watching the sequel series first (Max Heart, GoGo, Otona, and Mirai Days). Some people will say not to watch Hugtto because earlier cures show up in it, but they show up for two whole episodes and all but two of the cures are just there to fill space in the background of an epic fight. Something you'll commonly hear is to look at the lineup of characters for each season and pick the show whose designs you like, which is as good a way to start as any

Getting more into Detective Conan lately I'm looking forward to a detective themed Precure and seeing how that turns out.

Interesting way to translate Meitantei. Conan does "Great Detective".

Nice to see Milky Homes back in spirit at least.
