Well, at least it's something.
I do wish Evangelion would get a new anime, even if it is with different characters. Or maybe Girlfriend of Steel adaptation. |

Please, God, just let it lie. Rebuild of Eva justified its existence by coming back around and redeeming Gendo in his son's eyes, giving Shinji (and Anno) the closure he deserves.
Hot take: Stories should have endings! No IP has ever been well-served by turning it into an evergreen franchise machine, churning out endless sequels, prequels, and spinoffs. |

Maybe they could flesh out some of the "next episode" trailer at the end of Rebuild 2, which implies a whole movie's worth of stuff happening between films 2 and 3.

Mobile Suit Gundam and Ghost in the Shell would like a word... Evangelion as a franchise already has lots of spin-offs and alternate retellings in other mediums. So, it's too late to complain. This anniversary vid is most likely either a portion of that interstitial period between Eva 2.0 and 3.0. Or a potential pilot OVA of something entirely different in an EVA media multi-verse that could potentially be turned into it's own distinct thing, much like Gundam and GITS already do - an entirely different story with entirely new characters, new mechanical designs and a completely different story using the similar concept of EVAs versus Angels and some organizational names. I'd be down for that. |

I think it could be interesting if they make this about the gap between 2.0 and 3.0 we never got to see but Khara is also going to make us buy Evangelion again just to own this thing.

3.33 and 3.0+1.0 aren´t good and the IP peaked with the manga. Just don´t look into who made it... We will have to cancel all of Gainax one of these days. |
