Well, that is interesting. I'm curious what happened since, not only is this a last minute announcement, but it has been some time since the Crunchyroll announcement.
Obviously, the streaming deal with Crunchyroll wasn't exclusive, so did Hidive decide to go ahead and buy into it this late? Maybe they weren't interested in sharing at first but changed their minds after deciding not having season 3 at all would be worse? Overall, this is a good thing. I'm fine with nonexclusives and will watch on Hidive for consistency. |

Same here. One question that is still up in the air, though, is how dubbing will be handled, since the first two seasons were dubbed by Sentai's team. |

Good for Hidive. Hope they left some money to license other shows though.

It could've been a period of marketing exclusivity paid for by Crunchyroll. Makes it seem exclusive and association with Crunchyroll only in adverts brings them the customer. Video Game platform holders tend to do this every so often, even when it's not timed exclusivity, but all trailers etc. only use one console branding in the lead up. Since the show debuts tomorrow, Crunchyroll's marketing exclusivity finally ends, so now HIDIVE can mention they have the show too. |

Maybe Sentai will still have the BD distribution for this.

OH, THANK GOD! The fact that it’s streaming on Crunchyroll had me worried! Now, I don’t have to watch Hell Mode or something to have a seasonal to watch on HIDIVE!
Well, no matter where it’s streaming (and despite the manga’s not-so-great ending), I’m looking forward to the third season of Oshi no Ko! |

I hope this means Sentai is making the English dub and that they handle BD rights.
And the lack of a concrete streaming time from the press release suggests to me that HIDIVE will have a delay cast. Last edited by Angel M Cazares on Tue Jan 13, 2026 8:17 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I guess the real question is if Crunchyroll has the exclusive rights to the english dub. If Hidive only has the subbed version, that's still a huge blow.

HIDIVE updated their simulcast schedule: OnK will stream tomorrow at 10AM EST. I think that's the same time as Crunchyroll?

That would support jdnation's theory about marketing exclusivity (i.e., that they had it all along but couldn't advertise it). |

I kinda hope there's two separate dubs for this season. That would be hilarious to me.

Very unlikely since Hidive's and Crunchyroll's voice talent often overlaps. |

Honestly very happy with this news. HiDIVE aren’t a perfect company but given they’re like the only other major anime streaming service after Crunchyroll at this point it was really unfortunate to see them lose their most popular title. Having another option outside of CR is always good and HiDIVE deserves to at the very least keep the titles they had in the first place. The obvious question now is what’s happening with the dub and future home video releases. In regards to the dub it seems like the outcome will be one of these:
1. CR and HiDIVE do their own separate dubs with their own actors 2. CR gets the previous dub actors back and HiDIVE streams the same dub. 3. Option #2 but HiDIVE just doesn’t stream it 4. The same actors dub the shows twice with maybe some differences depending on who wants to work at what studio lol (kinda a wildcard option but you never know) As for the home video I’m going to ASSUME CR are going to be the ones doing that just because we saw it happen with Vinland Saga and if CR are doing dub at all I feel like that means they’re doing a home video release but we will have to wait and see on that one. Either way, the fact HiDIVE didn’t completely lose Oshi no Ko is still good news overall IMO. |
