From the synopsis I expected this to by BL heavy but so far, thankfully not. Actually, there seems to be commentary but possibly on the obnoxious side. Such as the hapless schoolgirl dragged into the summoning portal who after a few days surrounded by hot anime royal guys is actively sidling up to them and will not hear any ill to be spoken of their intentions or methods.

And our hapless salaryman headed into Karoshi at 30 who gets transported and the summoners are so sorry they give him a place, living expenses and spending money so he literally doesn't have to work ever again. And then he asks for a job and starts swilling magic energy drinks until he about collapses from overwork. As if to say, "see, companies aren't at fault, you all would do the same on your own" (??) Mad

I hope they come around to show the pitfalls of these poor behaviors. But the show isn't bad, as long as the "daily injection of "magicules" from the big, buff knight commander to keep him alive" doesn't happen...

Yeah, I was surprised how intriguing this first episode felt. The economics of the budgeting and the political aspects behind how the kingdom itself is run make for surprisingly good drama. I feel like most boys/girls love usually emphasize the love parts too much, with the actual plot being the side piece. Maybe this one will have more plot with the love on the side? Guess we'll have to see how the eventual love stuff turns out.

As someone that works in accounts, I am so far approving of that aspect. Although, I try to keep my energy drinks to rare occasions.

The first episode is pretty good. The tone and content is similar to the Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent, except our guy here doesn't have other superpowers than unhealthy work motivation. Nice accounting / bookkeeping / court scheming / magical stimulant abuse action. Next, apparently there is going to be Aresh/Seiichirou action too. The magicule infusions sound potentially (intentionally?) sketchy, not familiar with the source material, no idea really how the show is going to handle this.

Generally, Isekai work better when we get it without an omnipotent explainer from the individuals pov, which is the case here. I also just like administrative side stuff. Reasonably good.

How is he immediately so good with an abacus? Its not trivial to learn. From Bureaucrat to Villainess used an old guy to make it work, who in their 20s can do that? [Obviously this doesn't actually matter]

I do note from the review of another bl show that this is more "overtly" bl, though while this isn't an appeal for me its not really a problem.

I take it you'll be dropping this after episode 2 then... Laughing

I noticed by episode 2 that the Crunchyroll rating had gone down to 4 stars, which is a bit low for this early on, but then I understood fairly early into the episode as it did get pretty hot and heavy. A lot of audiences really have a strong reaction to BL.

I am still in.

On the one hand, no particular interest in the (fairly light) "hot and heavy" scenes.

On the other hand, both amused and get the character side of the work and drug fixation. Well, I'll give it another episode to see how it balances the two sides (and how tropey and fanservicey the romance is).

Personally, this was a first-time BL scene in anime, for me, and I thought it was pretty light. It reminded me of love scenes in smutty B-movies from the '90s; some stripping, kissing, *fade to black*, then transition to a cuddle. I'm surprised we haven't seen more of it (hetero or not) in anime, given the increase of ecchi titles over the last few years. But because it was two guys doing, it's more racy. I bet those CR ratings would flip if it were two girls, instead (double standard).

Anyway, I didn't mind it, and the magicules thing makes enough sense. It's basically like a natural bacteria to Sei, whose body hasn't adapted yet. The small nuance of his corporate work culture being addressed in how he "doesn't take enough care of himself" is a nice recurring theme. I also like how they depicted the tonic thing like it was drug abuse. Not sure if this is supposed to turn into a romance, but the way Aresh kept forcing Sei into self-care habits had a kind of endearment to it, which was a little incongruent with how much of a hard-ass he was initially. I guess we'll see if he gets any actual character development to show why he's suddenly so caring. Or maybe he was just always caring to begin with, but annoyed when people don't care for themselves?

My gf, who had no previous exposure to this franchise before the anime came out, really likes it, now. And she's not even into BL. But like me, the first episode created enough curiosity, and the BL just happened to be there. *shrugs* It's just guys kissing without shirts on. I'll still watch.

Ep 2: Another pretty good episode, more concentrated on what the characters are thinking, and still maintaining the same tone. The basic scenario is a bit of a hot plumber type of writing though, but it's handled well and the setting appears carefully done, and I'm interested in seeing how the relationship develops. Subjectively, this episode went by pretty fast, so it's looking good.

Episode was decent enough, perhaps a little stuck in a rut but with some development of the relationships and the politics. Then, boom, ending promises a lot of escalation.

Here we have court politics and a protagonist who, unusually for isekai, is actually underpowered. This could be an enjoyable combination?

The story remains interesting, but omg, what happened to the animation?! 2/3 of the episode wasn't even a slideshow. Just a single frame held for several seconds between 3 second spurts of animation. I kept thinking the player had frozen but the audio and subs kept going, so. If production is already in this much trouble it does not bode well. I expect we'll see delayed episodes soon.

On the other hand, if this was some sort of voluntary "creative/artistic" decision, someone needs to lose their job.

Lots of wheel spinning going on as well, like they're afraid we'll forget the excuse for the BL or something. If I have to hear about Sei's low resistance to freakin' magicules one more time I'm gonna start flippin' some tables.
