That was a very nice trailer. It's looking like anyone that has not played a previous version of the game will wind up with a fairly solid experience. The 3DS one is probably one of my more favorite "cozy" JRPG adventures ever made - it perfectly replicates the experience of sitting down before bed and having your parents read you a bedtime story.... just as an adult holding a portable device. The narration in particular is probably one of the better examples of them localising the dialogue/characterisation, of how information is conveyed throughout the game. Facets of DQ7's accented dialogue or the general length of the game always seem to come up in debate, but hearing it spoken like that, I feel like someone is reading me Tolkien, and if the whole game is voiced like that, I will personally find it very relaxing.
I'm flopping back and forth a bit though, in regards to the game's style. You see, to this day, the only Dragon Quest that has remotely attempted to top Dragon Quest 8 (PS2 release)'s sense of scope & scale has been DQ11, and a lot of people will debate (due to the jank of the DQXI S edition) whether or not it succeeded.
If you're looking for a JRPG adventure that is fairly timeless and epic, Dragon Quest 8 on the PS2 was up there with Final Fantasy 10 in regards to just how large and important the world & its goings on feels. When I look at DQ7 Reimagined, I cannot help but sink a little as I'm reminded how how disappointing the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes were, largely due to the world being portrayed top-down with oddly-proportioned children. I cannot help but wonder if DQ7 Reimagined were to give us a camera placed behind the character and everything portioned a bit more like DQ8 or 11, if it wouldn't allow some of the scenes to look less like an "Uncanny Diorama" and instead give the sort of rush that entering the grasslands for the first time on FF7 Remake pt2 has going for it. Much in the same way that everyone expects a Chrono Trigger remake to look like Octopath at this point, but I think that it'd drop people's jaws if a new Chrono Trigger wound up looking more like DQ8.

The demo was really good, streamlining a bunch of superfluous scenes. Looking forward to the changes to the class system

I know I want a Chrono Trigger in 3D and not 2D HD. We’ve gotten DragonBall games in that style we got, Blue Dragon in that style, and even Sand Land of all things.

Ignoring all the removed content and changes that make this version all but pointless in my opinion, I just dislike the ugly graphics in 7's remake. I really dislike the cheap-looking diorama look. I guess I should be glad the rest of the game looks inferior to the previous versions so it's not much of an issue for me but still. I'm kind of over the 2D-HD Octopath style too, but I'd take it over this. I'd also love a cel-shaded graphic style like 8 or 11, or actual sprite-based graphics (non 2D-HD)

Much of the content that’s missing isn’t going to mean much to anyone that didn’t play either the PlayStation of 3DS version. And even then for some of us that did the original game and the remake were bloaty.

Not a fan of the diorama look either but I wouldn't say it's anywhere near as bad as BDSP. I'd compare it more to something like Link's Awakening's remake which also did the diorama art style.
Dragon Quest is such a weird series because they went from 8 to 9 which was a multiplayer DS game and then 10 was a Japan-only MMO. I really hope 12 is a full blown console game like 11 and 8 were and not another 'experiment'.
