...woah...i...wasn't expecting that...
i'm just curious...did they really support this game with like updates and stuff before now? to me, it kinda feels weird to m make a revamped experience literally 7 years after release...
still happy that doa is back, i remember playing 5 a while ago when i was like...13 or 14 or so...
still find it funny that the extreme series hasn't came over to na. neither scarlet nor 3. but, i COULD'VE sworn i played an english version of extreme 3 on ps4, but i don't remember how...

Support for 6 was dropped pretty quickly because it didn't do well, but this is a much needed chance for them to hopefully spruce the game up (specifically by giving it netcode that's worth a damn)

Why?
It’s a fanservice based volleyball game that isn’t terribly engaging or deep gameplay wise. Not to mention even looking at the domestic numbers Scarlet and Venus Vacation did relatively poorly in Japan.

i think it was just - and gonna be honest, it's a silly reason - my visual novel brain that was thinking that. just thought maybe there'd be a niche market of people who'd want to play it over here, similar to visual novels.
i also found it funny, because, as i mentioned, years ago i think i was able to get my ps4 to play the game but-
honestly, now that i'm typing this, i'm kinda realizing it wasn't funny and i kinda idiot-ed out a bit, sorry, i'll stop...

Wouldn’t say it was idiotic just random.
I also like to think visual novel aspect could work…..in another demographic.

The only gripe I have with this-- No Switch 2 port (at least not yet). They had no problem putting out DOAX3 Scarlet on the Switch (albeit only in Asia, but this is DOA6, a non-spin-off game, we're talking about).
For the time being, I wonder if they have a free/inexpensive upgrade for those who already have the original DOA6. I have the Xbox One version. If not a free/inexpensive upgrade, I can always get the PS5 version (I plan on getting a PS5 later in the year, even if it's used).

If my mermory on ANN articles serve me correctly, I think Xtreme 3 had an English translation in the Japanese release or something, and the game was also released region free, so you could import it from Japan. I can't vouch for that, though, since I've never really tried any of the DoA volleyball games outside of the second one a long, long time ago.
There were a few games that were released in Japan, but region free so you could import them and play them on your own consoles. I did that with one of the Mushihime games that were released on the Xbox 360.

There was an English version for English-speaking Asian territories like Hong Kong. PlayStation stopped enforcing regions on games with the PS3, so people were free to import it or create a Hong Kong PSN account and download it.

I imported Xtreme 3 from Japan and it had English on it, yes. They pretty much had the English version ready to go but just couldn't release it in the west due to socio-political shenanigans going on at the time. Same reason DoA6 ended up tripping over itself and failing since they tried to chase the "core values" audience of EVO and FGC which unsurprisingly turned off their core fanbase. Going off the promo for this and the new DoA featuring fanservice maybe means they wised up and course corrected but I'll wait and see if they learned their lesson or not.
