This is relevant because these characters were originally created for an American comic book, and these 2 characters were even featured in a Japanese safety promo by Sega themselves. If you want to know why Sega Japan featured them despite these 2 characters were from an American comic book adaptation, that's because IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog got translated into Japanese and it sold so well to the point where I think both Tangle and Whisper somehow gained mainstream-level awareness amongst Sonic's niche fanbase in Japan. Remember, Sonic the Hedgehog's fanbase in Japan is not as big or massive compared to the US/North American counterpart and the fact that the IDW's comic book series was able to do well in Japan and somehow Tangle and Whisper somehow gained mainstream-level awareness in Japan that SEGA Japan featured both of them on a safety promo. That's why I argued for Sega Japan and IDW Publishing for IDW's Sonic comic series should get a simulpub release in Japan in the same manner manga get simulpub release in the US/North America. If IDW's Sonic comic series is so beloved in Japan and it sell out to the point where Whisper and Tangle were featured in Japanese safety promo, then that comic series from IDW should warrant a simulpub release in Japan (and I say the same for IDW's Godzilla comics/graphic novels too). |

As a big fan of Tangle and Whisper, I was excited to see them featured in your link, but... unless I'm blind, where are they? I think if they were voiced here by their new voices, I'd have bought the game despite not being as much a fan of racing games. Instead, they're silent. What a shame... ): |

You can read the comment left by the redditors themselves. If you want another proof that Whisper & Tangle were used in SEGA Japan's safety promo, here's another one right here and this one was more recent. |

Without actual numbers saying something 'sold out' doesn't mean much because for all we know they printed 10 copies of it expecting it to not sell at all. Overall, the idea that IDW comics are super popular with zero actual data to back it up other than "the characters in them appeared on a poster" seems like extremely weak evidence to say they should invest in a simulpub. Like, good for people who like it or whatever but let's not act like it's more than what it is and the entire industry needs to restructure itself around it. And just because an issue 1 sells out doesn't mean much given how speculative the comic market is. What matter is how much the current issues sell and how popular they are if a series is worth even considering increasing priority for. Most #1s are inflated because of would-be investors thinking they'll be worth millions someday.
No idea who these characters are but they're not voiced because SEGA is super cheap with Crossworlds DLC and no one is voiced. Well, except Miku.
Is she even still around in the comics? I assume she got erased with the Ian Flynn purge. I suppose she has a chance to show up still since she's not one of Penders' characters. |

Then why were Tangle and Whisper featured in a Japanese safety promo done by SEGA. If the IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog comic series weren't popular in Japan, then why the heck did SEGA put those 2 characters made exclusively for the American comic on a Japanese safety promo for? You don't put characters that are unknown in Japan on a safety promo including Japanese safety promo unless those characters are well-known or mainstream in Japan. And Whisper and Tangle being featured on a Japanese safety promo kind of speak loudly on that. RWBY characters are featured heavily in Japanese material despite the characters were made and originated in the US, so like RWBY, somehow Whisper and Tangle (both comic book exclusive characters made by Americans, and not Japanese) somehow gained awareness or mainstream-level awareness in Japan to somehow appeared on Japanese safety promo and the Sonic Racing Crossworlds video game. So how can you explain that if you said the comic book series are not well-known in Japan, and the fact that Sonic the Hedgehog doesn't have a big fanbase in Japan compared to the US and North America? |
