Fascinating. Anyways...

Koyuki is at least one step closer to understanding herself though she hasn't figured out why she thinks Miki would be interested in Minato over Yota. Good for Koyuki, Minato has a preference for small cute things and seeing how his phone background is his pet Pomeranian, he's ok with being open about it.

When Yota becomes an interfering meddler who wants to fix people, that's ok because he had the sense to bring snacks? Help me out here because the disconnect on Minato is really starting to bother me. He's an extrovert friendly to everyone yet his real friends are introverts. Not because they are projects he needs to fix but because, get this, he likes them. And someone his two friends like? Wel, he would like them too, right?

He's still an extrovert, they're all not. "He's a creep, not everyone should be liked, it's ok not to like someone." So Minato shouldn't like Koyuki?

That doesn't follow. He's free to not like her, and if he didn't that would be ok?

Minato absolutely approached Koyuki as a project, as he clearly has many people in the past. He's now moving past that stage and hopefully learning why it's not really great, but the awkwardness that generated still sits on his side of the ledger.

Minato is of course entirely free to like, or disklike, Koyuki. The problem is the reverse: The way in which he felt entitled to her liking him, and approached her like a "pick the right dialog options until relationship status improves" NPC companion. And while he was busy searching for the right options to pick, he wasn't really looking at her at all. He didn't pick up any of the cues the he was making her uncomfortable. It didn't even occur to him that he might.

I don't love that Koyuki had to be the one to apologise first. Yes, she lashed out, but she was entitled to her discomfort and perfectly within her rights to ask him to back off. He was wrong first, even if in his own way it was well intended.

I'm also a little curious about what's going on with Igararshit.

Did she have a different name back then? Perhaps her parents divorced? Maybe we can hope that for all his prickly exterior the guy feels some regret and would rather people didn't know? I'm still not entirely sure if they were actually dating, or there was a pervasive rumour that wasn't corrected. But either way, something about it is somehow Miki's fault? I guess that is the source of the "I don't want to hurt her any more" comment from a couple of eps back.

No, his eyes and visible flinch showed that he clearly recognized her name before denying he knew her. Though it's interesting that ever-observing Minato didn't pick up on it, even in retrospect.

I too don't see Minato as creepy, but I think I'll leave it at what I've already said.

II didn't see the cameo! Where was it? I did grin when Koyuki said the phrase "polar opposites" though.

After the credits, it is not a subtle one.

When they went to the cafe at the end. Miyu and friends are at a table, and later seen leaving.

I cheated and went straight to Youtube when I saw Smurky's comment about a cameo. I figured youtube would have the scene recorded immediately, but it didn't. I found this interesting little snippet instead.

You and I are Polar Opposites and Ramparts of Ice are in the Same Universe

Thank you, everyone! I can't believe I didn't notice Suzuki! Naturally, enough time has passed (like 5 whole weeks or something) for Dr. Memory here to have totally forgotten what her friends look like. I believe the blonde-ish one is the girl who had terrible luck with men (Azuma?) but the one with short dark hair? Completely gone from my memory bank, of course.

6:

I enjoyed seeing Minato try to use cold logic to control his feelings and utterly fail at it. He feels attracted to/is interested in Koyuki and he is not escaping that. The bit with Youta at the end felt rather off, something is not right there and Minato his comment makes me wonder if that family is experiencing some issues. It might add some depth to Youta who so far has been fairly bland as a character.

@Blood, to be fair, the two other girls with Suzuki did not receive that much of the spotlight in the first season of Opposites. And no, the blonde one is not the one with terrible luck when it comes to men, that honor goes to Shino with greyish hair.

I love that supposedly neutral Minato is finally experiencing the stirrings of feelings that I'm sure will eventually be a true crush. I was curious about his inner thought that if Koyun actually did fall in love with Yota (considering his size, Yeti would be more apt, amirite?) it would not be a good thing for her. Hmmm...

I was watching the English dub. It was removed entirely and that's a bit worrying.

Yota being gay would be the obvious reason Minato might think Koyuki was headed for heartbreak.

But when Minato first saw Yota and Koyuki together, he said that he didn't see them being a good match.

That doesn't sound like Yota being gay, but there being some other complicating factor. If there is, it probably has something to do with Yota's weird home situation, or they wouldn't have introduced it at such a pivotal moment.

My first thought was that Yota might have a complicated relationship with a stepmom who doesn't seem to be much older than he is? That seems a little too Domestic Girlfriend (but even darker) for the author of You and I Are Polar Opposites.

I was thinking that too. But his homelife is more probable than him being revealed as gay.
