Even if that is true this time it is a slippery slope. If there is one overly curious person who decides to have a peek you have a problem on your hands. If enough witches allow for that to happen then at some point the information spreads and eventually you have enough people knowing the truth that it will be hard to zap all the relevant memories away. At that point you might even get a group of people demanding that magic should be for all.

I am curious to see who bails Coco out next week, I assume that the others will arrive to help.

So why didn't Argott ask those people to turn around and not look, explain the situation, it is not that hard, they seemed like nice trusty worthy people to me.

Explain the situation? What, "You can't watch us cast spells or you'd realize anyone can do it"? They'd wonder why they can't watch, having just watched while the adults magicked all over the place in plain view.

Yeah, that "they can't watch" is also a secret! Ordinary people aren't just supposed to not see; they are supposed to think they are seeing.

Seems like we have two individuals who will go to great/terrible lengths to achieve their goals. In the case of Easthies that means seeing Coco as guilty no matter what and wanting to wipe her memories even if he has to force a confession out of her. Qifrey on the other hand is so obsessed with the Brimmed Caps that he will alter the memories of an acquaintance if necessary. Given how powerful the Brimmed Caps seem I am not sure that is a good idea.

Argott response to Coco's kindness is "what are you plotting", says a lot about her and her upbringing.

Yeah, her short flashback from a few episodes back made clear that she has not been treated well. Qifrey got rocked, he may want to get at the Brimmed Caps as fast as he can but I am not sure that is actually able to. The lore regarding the Healingcraft witches has me questioning the whole memory wipe business.

I loved the little furworm imitating Qifrey when he was eating the leaves and checking his hand. Very Happy

Not an exciting episode but I really enjoyed seeing Coco encourage Tartah to not give up and keep thinking of a solution together (even if they should have just called for someone). I wonder if using a reverse version of a forbidden spell is the answer to freeing her mother, not to mention that it is still a forbidden spell at that point right? Anyway, Coco has made a new friend and Tartah has found motivation.

The bit with Qifrey has me wondering how outsiders view witches because that one guy sure was ordering him around.

All the Outsiders seem to have a very entitled attitude toward witches. The only time they seem at all humble is when asking for help, but the minute they agree to help, they all act like they just bought a slave.

Somehow I didn't realize Tartah could use magic at all. His spell seems really useful, if he can make it last when he wants it to. I smell a spinoff - Witch Detective Tartah!

Technically speaking everyone can use magic, it is simply about having the knowledge about how it works or not.

I like that the show is creative when it comes to the trials. In far too many other anime the magic trials simply involve killing increasingly large monsters or being able to use certain spells. Having to protect your pinguin like animal in a labyrinth with potentially lethal old age magic plus having to do so while not making the pinguin in question suspicious is a fun task.

Well the sub and dub says one line in different ways and to me it changes the whole nature of the lines in today's episode.

In the sub, Richeh tells Agott "Don't interfere" in the dub she says "Let him be." The sub version it sounds like she is saying he's got this, don't interfere. In the dub it sounds like let him do what he wants, if he passes he passes, if he fails he fails I don't care whatever.

I think Richeh meant to not interfere because he got this since the being true to yourself and not liking yourself hit home for her. Her not caring at all just does not fit with the rest of the episode.

I enjoyed seeing how the three witches (in training) all took a different approach to solving the situation. Richeh is very much about freedom and being true to herself (though her being so stubborn will be an issue) while Agoth is methodical and is driven to prove herself. As for Euini... it is no wonder he has issues given how his master has gone about his education.

Only one episode left, I assume that means a cliffhanger.
