Well, at least I know what my next TV won't be, or have on it.

Makes FOX the first television company to own streaming service hardware, more than just the software like for what Disney (ABC) does with Disney+ (Hulu). Roku has the largest market share in both streaming services and devices that provide them.

i'm not even really a roku guy, mostly a google tv guy. i'd rather just use a gtv streamer. in fact, i have been using it for...since 2021.

not really a fan of the roku ui, literally never have been. but i feel like thats a discussion for another day...

It was dumb for the AOL Time Warner, Disney-Fox, and AT&T Time Warner mergers to happen. It is wrong for Paramount Skydance trying to get WB Discovery. Fox Corp getting Tubi was fine but Roku is not.

I can’t believe I’m around in an age where these megacorps are getting increasingly longer and ridiculous names with each other company they gobble up. It’s so infuriating that these out-of-touch ultra rich CEOs don’t give a damn about what the wider public thinks of their rapidly-increasing greed. All they see are dollar signs.

So I guess this was the part of Fox that wasn't bought by Disney?

Reason I am fine with Fox Corp getting Tubi is because the buy-out was a lot smaller. Now, if the Fox Corp never bought Tubi but just bought Roku, I would be a bit less opposed because they would have one less big streaming platform.

I’d never own or use anything Roku to begin with but this acquisition is another reminder of why mega corps should never exist.

I thought Roku was retreating from the Karaoke hardware they used to make and repositioning as just a platform agnostic digital service company.

Yuck, I now feel filthy for owning one. I sincerely hope the deal falls through.

They should add the option for an Al Bundy or Homer Simpson voice system.
