Great film, full of Studo 4C style (I think Science Saru and Masami Yuuasa spun out of Studio 4C, and their work share a lot of stylistic elements, making their animations distinctive).
The story was charning in the extreme.

I read that this film was sadly a massive financial failure in Japan. I suspect that the lack of Japanese names and locations, in tandem with not being part of a pre-existing series, did not help.
