That's unfortunate. The animation in Final Yamato was absolutely amazing. The industry has lost a great talent.

Wow! What's going on! I thought people were supposed to be healthier, and have a longer life span these days. In the pic he looks healthy; so many deaths this year. This is terrible; really stinks.

I'm sorry, to his family, and friends. My condolences.

Man...one of the greatest animators in the industry...gone. I hope his family can pull through ok. It's such a shame that so many people in the biz are passing away so young. Japan is supposed to be one of the healthiest nations on Earth, so this is a big surprise that so many prominent artists and such are giving up the ghost.

OMG!! And he was still young.

He had quite a venture. I'm glad to know that I had honor of seeing some of the things he was involved in. Very sad. He'll be greatly remembered.

R.I.P. Sad

Some of these credits are also his. Don't know for sure about Akira, but the other three are definitely him.

I'm so shcked! he was one of the greatest animators in anime history in Japan and he was the legend.
If you don't know who he is, just search his name(金田伊功-Yoshiyuki Kanada)on youtube and you will see many MAD tributes to his great works made by Japanese otakus.

Also he was the most influential animator in anime industry that many animators have fallowed his style(look Gurren Lagann, that animation style is so much influenced by Kanada style).

His death is a big loss for anime industry.

I've been watching his work my entire life. Going through his body of work is like going through some of the best memories of my childhood, glued to the TV, eyes wide in wonder. He really was something special. A true artist. His work had so much personality, and it inspired so many other people to take up the pencil and animate.

R.I.P Kanada. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of every fan of animation, and every passionate young animator, from Japan and the world over who has been touched by your work.
