Hmmm so they are actually moving the premiere up from when I thought it was going to be. Initially it seemed like March, then it was February 20th with the PSN release and now strangely enough they've got a sneak preview going on for next week in Hong Kong, the capital of bootlegging of all places. I can't help but think that they're going to have to frisk the attendees to make sure nothing leaks out.

What's up with the main character's retro hairstyle?

It's like a massive hairball...

It's the original Gundam character designer from the 70's and 80's and he liked giving characters slight afro's because that was in style back then. It's just kind of carried it's way into his designs for this century, but damn if it isn't kind of a refreshing break from the same old hairstyles we're used to seeing all the time these days.

That, my fellow poster, is Yoshikazu "Yas" Yasuhiko's classic, distinctive Gundam character style.

I welcome it back.

So does anyone know how much each Blu-ray volume of this will MSRP at? I'm not a giant Gundam fan (though I do prefer UC Gundam to a certain extent) so it'll be the price that determines if I check this out or not.

Currently, you can only order it through Amazon. You have until March 2010 (I forgot the exact day) to order before it is taken off the site. It used to be $35 and has been bumped up to $45. The first Blu-ray disk of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn will MSRP at $50 according to Amazon.

Uh, no. It's not getting taken off the site, that's the day it ships. And it's an Amazon exclusive for two months, then other sites get it.

Where in the world do people get this stuff?

$50? That's kind of pricey for 50 minutes.

So, just so I understand, Amazon has exclusive Pre-Order rights until the March release? Or they actually have exclusive sales for two months after the March release?

Will stores carry the first volume in this second case? (I assume yes)

Yeah, I don't think you're going to find anyone who disagrees with ya there.

The press release (as summarized by ANN) isn't very clear on that. Either could be the case, but when you consider that preorders first started being accepted on Janauary 10 and the release is on March 12, well, that's a two month period right there...
