Oh coolness. I'll be looking forward to that. I wish they would release some of the older feature films here. Hopefully someone will release 'Princess Knight' (manga) here.

Can't really see Buddha translating well to film, if only because condensing eight volumes just isn't possible.

The love for Tezuka is apparently unending, though.

Agreed - I would like to see an old-style TV series made of Buddha, made without artistic & commercial constraints, eg: funded by a wealthy Buddhist organisation or by a sympathetic government or NGO.

I have 7 of the 8 first English (US) editions, regrettably I somehow omitted to purchase the final volume on first publication.

Maybe 15 minute TV slots, like a sort of anime Pancha Tantra (short instructive & often amusing & moving moral animal fables).

There is of course the option to do some serious reimagining, using the Tezuka stories & graphics as a base ..... what might the author of Saint Young Men make of such a project?

Regards,

VERY interesting. Now, if only MW and Apollo's Song are made into anime too, that'll just make my day.

I'd like to see Buddha done LA-style, but I'm sure it'd piss off the deeply religious somehow. It'd be nice to get a new PK anime, though, so we can get any of it stateside.

Wow, a movie on Buddha? I read that about a year ago, it's a wonderful read.

Great news, even if I'm a bit worried about translating 8 volumes in a movie, too.

But a Ribbon no Kishi movie will be perfect, since this other story is only 3 volumes long, if I remember well. Smile

I hope I get a chance to see the new Princess Knight Anime. I have several epidoes of the 1968 series, and it's one of my very favorites! Very Happy

Now I want to see if they'll make an adaptation of Adolf.
