I recently found out that there is a Kingdom Hearts manga out. Has anyone read it? Is it "kiddish" in terms of action and subject matter? From the looks of it it seems like just a replica of the games (same story as the game in manga form). I would be interested if they had an alternate story that maybe explained more of the game or even continued the games story.

I've only read the first volume of the first series, but to my understanding it's the same story, except that they take out a few worlds. I think that the CoM manga does add in some stuff, but I'm not sure.
I wouldn't say that it's good. The art doesn't do any justice for Nomura's designs at all and the fights are really lame- the first boss fight in the game is over in about 5 pages in the manga.

I'm waiting until the whole thing is available in one big box set. The game rocked though.

The manga is pretty awesome, sticking very close to the game's story. The art is beautiful and can be funny at times, only when funny art is needed. There is the manga titled "Kingdom Hearts" which is based off of the first game. Then there is "Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories" which follows the GBA/PS2 game with the same title, and then there is the manga titled "Kingdom Hearts 2" which is based off of the second game. All three titles are out, released by Tokyopop. The first series is $5 each. I'm not sure how much the 2nd and 3rd series are.

I found it all to be pretty simple and unexciting, bringing nothing to the story that wasn't already in the game (the target audience is obviously little kids). It's pretty much as good as your typical manga that's based off an anime (meaning don't bother unless you're a die-hard fan). The art was alright, but alone wasn't enough to make me want to buy it.
I only bought it because I found it dirt cheap at my Walmart a few years back for some reason.

I just read the Chain of Memories manga to fill in the gap between KH1 and 2 (I always hated GBA games so I wouldn't play it) and it served its purpose pretty well. I didn't think it was great but at least I understood what was going on after reading it.

I think that would be the only useful purpose with the manga, is to fill the gaps between the other games that are exclusively for other consoles.

It's okay but if you are used to reading manga right to left and not left to right you might get confused
