Shinya Takahashi (高橋 しんや / 高橋信也) is two different people with the exact same Kanji name who are both animators/directorrs from different time periods. ANN incorrectly lists their pseudonyms and such, however.
Shinya Takahashi 1943 person#232029 Shinya Takahashi 1965 person#3568 "Magoichi Takazawa" is a pseudonym of Takahashi 1943. I don't think Takahashi 1965 was working on anime when he was 11 years old. This is currently listed on 1965's page. "Shinya Harii" (person#41023) is a pseudonym of Takahashi 1965, and has its own page for some reason while also noting that the person is named Shinya Takahashi. Takahashi 1943 has his own Wiki page (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/高橋信也), as well, which notes that 1943/Takazawa and 1965/Horii are different people. Furthermore, the credits on Takahashi 1965's page are an amalgamation of both animator's works and would need to be separated. Any credits prior to the year 1986 is undoubtedly the work of Takahashi 1943. Besides that, the best bet of separating them might be to use AniDB, but I don't know (1943: https://anidb.net/creator/5271; 1965: https://anidb.net/creator/8470) |

I've fixed this to the best of my ability but there might be one or two that escaped scrutiny.
While going through this, I discovered where I think some of the confusion comes from. I think there was a period when both the older and younger Takahashi were both active and using the same spelling (高橋信也) in the 90s before the younger adopted (しんや). They have very different skill sets for most of their career but some of their credits might still be mixed up since I couldn't verify them. For instance, the older Takahashi spent a lot of his career working on younger audience-focused series, like Tezuka works, anime based on fairy tales, etc. The younger has experience in mecha and action series. These credits might be wrong: Shinya Takahashi (older): person#232029 -(1989) Patlabor the Mobile Police (TV) : Key Animation (eps 24, 30, 35); the younger is credited on working on the second film. -(1992) Tenchi Muyo! (OAV 1/1992) : Key Animation (ep 1) (the younger is credited on GX!, so that would mean both worked on the franchise) - Suikoden Demon Century (OAV) : Key Animation seems out of his wheelhouse - Macross Plus (OAV) : Key AnimationP (ep 3); the younger worked on Cowboy Bebop so it seems more likely he would have worked with the same staff overlap here. - (1995) Gunsmith Cats (OAV) : Animation (OP); feels like it's more in the younger's wheelhouse, especially the OP sequence -(1998) Neo Ranga (TV) : Key Animation (ep 47) seems like the younger's wheelhouse -(2005) Blood+ (TV) : Key Animation (ep 6); the younger is credited on Blood-C so they both would have worked on the franchise -(2006) Fist of the North Star - Legend of Raoh: Chapter of Death in Love (movie) : Animation Director; they're both credited on working on entries on this franchise |

Thank you for dealing with these pages. I found some mistakes and reported as error.
person#232029 here In-Between Animation credits starts in 1986 means that should be belong to the younger one. There are some Key Animation credits in 1986-1989 that should be belong to the younger one but both of them use 高橋 信也 name so can't be sure. person#3568 here (The) Rose of Versailles (movie 2025) : Key Animation credit is belong to the older one. |
