There has been some translated before, dance is a pretty common theme in shojo manga, especially Ballet manga. Ballet manga's been a big part of the shojo scene since the 60's.
CMX translated the majority of Swan, about 15 volumes worth. It's a fairly classic ballet manga from the 70's, with INSANE layouts that anyone who likes cartooning should be sure to check out at least a few volumes of. Very crazy, dramatic stuff. Tokyopop's earlier unflipped titles included the 4 volume The Forbidden Dance, whose artist is better known for the Shojo Beat manga Sand Chronicles. It was an earlier work of hers, so it's kind of silly, but was a decent read, as a girl joins an experimental dance group [which is mostly male, because this is a shojo manga] I recall ComicsOne/DrMaster put out a ParaPara dancing themed colour manhua. Forget the exact title though. There might of been others with dancing aspects, though I can't recall any at the moment. Glass Mask, a remake of an 80's anime SentaiFilmworks released recently, is mostly about acting, though from my understanding, the characters also take dance as part of their superinsanetraining [it's based on a longrunning manga, which like Swan is in the 70's Shojo tradition of being overdramatic/crazy]. There's also the OEL manga Rhsmyth. Edit- also, after a quick googling, I'm now wondering why you're posting a question copied word for word from a CrunchyRoll forum topic from over a year ago http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-471222/dancing-manga |
