well i know it all a preference but best to ask than sit in my corner anyways im needing a anime series with the following atributes
geared for the more mature thinking crowd(ghost in the shell e.x)
the high school humor works okay but animes I've seen are
.Hack//sign
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the shell(all time favorite)
Wolfs Rain(enjoyed thuroghly)
Outlaw star
Tenchi univers, ova (these were good but a bit outgrown for my tastes)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Vandred
i was concidering getting the trigun series off amazon for cheap but ide like to see some input on some series i may have overlooked or just passed without much thought....titles can be decieving sometimes anyways thanks

The trigun on amazon's from outside seller (going for 30 dollar) are hk bootleg ripped (3 DVD set) from the R1 set.
The real set go for about 150 and is about 8 DVD.
If you like Bebop, than Samurai Champloo is probably the next logical step.
You like Evangelion, there's also Rahxephon from Bones Studio who did Wolf's Rain and Bebop.
I thought Samurai 7 was very similar to hack sign in term of setup and pacing. Might be worth a look.
As for Ghost in the Shell, there's Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complext 2nd Gig (Season 2 of the TV) coming out from bandai in a few weeks.

Sorry, minor correction here, Sunrise did the Cowboy Bebop series, and Bones was involved with the Cowboy Bebop movie. Although Bones was started by a former Sunrise employee

If you want "mature-thinking", look no further than Paranoia Agent, which probably could be considered the definition of the phrase... Both in terms of intelligence and violence/sex/language/perversion.
