Ok so I really want to buy the Lone Wolf and Cub set (I've already read it) but I've held back because of the size for each volume. For anyone who has read LWaC from the TPB's, did you feel any discomfort of any sort trying to read it, or was it all smooth sailing. I really want to buy it but I feel like I'll be continuously squinting my eyes to enjoy this thing again. Also did I hear some rumour about Dark Horse releasing LWaC in a bigger size or am I dreaming. Thanks.

The reason why LWaC is in the small format is because it works. Kojima specifically requested those dimentions as he believes it adds to the cinematic feel of his artwork, and I agree with him 100%. In addition to enhancing the artwork, the small size never makes it more difficult to read than the standard size (thanks in part to the lack of clutter on the pages; I can only imagine if ADV or Tokyopop tried to keep the sound effects "traditional"). So what I'm getting at is the current format is perfect for LWaC. |

I believe the size they used is call Bunko size and that's how the original Lone Wolf and Cub was release. The size isn't popular by today's standard but was pretty popular back then when lone wolf was being release.
Anyways, I don't think you'll have a hard time reading it. I can read it cleary, but the font is about a size 8 (Time New Roman). |

The size is actually a testament to the artist's skill.
Despite being much smaller than most manga, and about a quarter size of most Graphic Novels, the pages never feel cluttered, the drama isn't weakened, and most of all, the action is still thrilling. Of course, they don't fit on the shelf like most manga do, but you can find a way around that. |

and you can always use a magnifying glass.
I don't think legiblity (when it can be solved, but something like that) should be a deciding factor in buying a manga |

Speaking of LWaC, I just finished Koike's Lady Snowblood, and to be honest I'm a bit disapointed. It isn't poor by any means, but it really falls short in comparison to his other samurai manga. While the backstory of the main character is interesting, she comes off as a sociopath, and not even an interesting one at that. Ogami Itto and Kubikiri Asa are both really interesting heroes, ones that you really root for (Ogami for his devotion as a samurai and a father and Asa for his tragic sense of justice). I didn't really find myself rooting for Yuki, and without that sense of attachment it was just assasination stories (which are pretty fun). Maybe she will develop in later volumes, but another BIG drawback is the art. After seeing Kojima's stunningly cinematic storytelling for so long, Kazuo Kamimura drawings are pretty bland. Nice book design though.

I've never actually read LWC but it looks like a good read but I've always wondered? Are there any other manga series in that size in the USA?
