Hmm-hmm, interesting. Hokusai is my favorite woodblock artist - well, next to Hiroshige. The reason I think that Hokusai's work can be considered the true predecessor to modern manga is because of the sense of movement he tried to convery in his work, which is also what made his work stand out from other Uikiyo-e print artist of the time.

Interesting, but Washington DC? Not happening, unless I have another reason to take a three and a half our ride there. But I've never seen any woodblock art though. '_'
