It seems that Bandai's release of Zeta Gundam has been delayed, according to some posts on Anime on DVD's forums (note: if you're not registered for the forum, you won't be able to read the post).
anime on dvd forum link Andrew Tei mentions, "Unfortunately plans at Bandai have changed since Feburary, as I learned as Anime Boston. While Bandai hasn't made an official statement, don't expect Zeta to come out this year." Jerry Chu, a Bandai rep, didn't exactly deny this later in the thread; he said simply, "The 'Bald Wizard' has struck again." ("The Bald Wizard" is a nickname for Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino) So, those of you who were looking forward to picking up the DVDs in August or seeing the show on Cartoon Network this fall may just have to wait. Nothing in the thread about the reason for the delay. [EDIT - URL shortened. -C] |

Drat. Drat. Drat. Drat. Drat.
I swear, Tomino's ego didn't take a big enough hit when BrainPowerd tanked. The man is still, apparently, suffering from the same arrogant "messiah" complex as ever. I'd be willing to bet he's complaining about editing. It's a conspiracy. Hideaki Anno and Yoshiyuki Tomino are one and the same! (the sad thing is that I'm a Gundam fan) |

Couldn't agree more, but if it is problems about editing I am with him, assuming its for the DVD versions and not the Toonami or Adult Swim version. With that being said I still love Gundam and think the man's a genuis. I also think that he should have some say in how any Gundam series is brought to America, but it still pisses me off that he's delaying the release of Zeta Gundam in America. Personally that has made me lose some of my respect for the man. |
