On Amazon UK I foudnwhile on a generic search for anime that I could get the WHR DVD's and after reading the review on this site my interest was piqued.

But its only of the first DVD so as companies tend to go overboard with first releases in funding I am not too swayed as of yet.

so first, is it any good? Does it remain consistently good? How many eps are on each DVD?

and while I trust amazon I'm not entirely certain it says it is region 0 which is usual for bootlegs, and while I highly doubt amazon would stock such a thing I am apprehensive as I would hate to buy something and find it crap.

check it here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007X9TCK/qid=1135542492/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_11_2/026-2691273-2560434[/url]

I don't know much as far as the DVD is concerned, but for the series itself I enjoyed it. It doesn't match up to ones like Full Metal Alchemist (in my opinion), but it was good. It started off good and only got better towards the end. I enjoyed all the characters and the path the story took.

But again, I don't know anything concerning anime DVDs.

well I didn't like FMA.

but it looks like a moody suspense and mystery series and I have yet to see one of that style, is it one or not?

also is Robin one hot anime babe or what?(sorry...sorry but attractive females can only help...)

It's an excellent series, I personally loved it, and own all six of the volumes including the artbox. It's got great action and develops the characters very well. The animation is also excellent as it's a newer series. The show is a mystery action series yes, set in modern times with a really cool gothic atnosphere. It's episodic for the first 10 or 11 episodes to set everything up and then the main storyline begins which is quite good.

I don't know about the R2 release but the R1 (US/Canada) versions come on 6 discs. There are 26 episodes with a spread of 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 4 with some interesting extras especially if you get the LE artbox which comes with the soundtrack, a shot Glass, and T-Shirt.

I didn't really think much of this series. I watched it all through till the end, but overall it was generally much too monster-of-the-week for me, and I couldn't care less for any of the characters. But some people don't mind that stuff as much as I do.

I really enjoyed the arc around eps 12-14 though, it was good...but the series just never really did it for me.

Well, I can't say anything about the UK release. I looked on the US Amazon page, however I didn't feel like wading through 39 reviews of the DVD on the US Amazon site. Perhaps there is something there that can answer your question. At any rate, the US site seems to give a bit more information about it than the UK site.

I did notice that the DVD details didn't mention what region the DVD was, which is odd because they usually do tell region info so you don't buy a movie you can't play. Perhaps the series is just made Region 0.

If you scroll down to the middle of the page it says
Edition Details:
• Region 0
• Animated, PAL
• ASIN: B0007X9TCK
• Catalogue Number: BZ1279
Since it says region 0 I'll assume it's a bootleg.

Or one can assume it's a typo.

Region 0 or "All regions" = Bootleg 99% of the time. However, it does have the correct artwork. You may have to find someone else in the UK to confirm it.

If you enjoyed the first 3 episodes of the series I believe you will like most of the series. I personally think the series gets better as it gets into the second half. A few of my friends didn't like the last couple of episodes, but I enjoyed them too.

well I took a chance and ordered it.

It was actually a typo on Amazons part, the DVD case tells me its region 2(Europe, UK, Japan, South Africa etc)

needless to say I have ordered the next DVD as well.

Cool, I hope you enjoy it. On a side note this series, aside from the first episode which is a little rough, had one of my personal favorite dubs. Kari Wahlgren, Crispin Freeman, Johnny Yong Bosch, Michelle Ruff, and Wendee Lee make up quite the cast and they seem to work well togather. In addition they're some of my favorite voice actors.
