First off, can you read or speak Japanese?
Second, do you buy Japanese manga to read/practice Japanese or for the sake of just looking at the pictures? Or because it's cheaper?
Third, if you collect both languages (English and Japanese) or any additional languages on top of that, what language is the majority of your collection in?

My answers to them:
1. Yes, I can read and speak Japanese.
2. I do buy Japanese manga because the places where I buy them from are less expensive than English versions, and I read Japanese manga to keep up with my Japanese.
3. All of my manga collections are in Japanese.

1. Yes, speak and read Japanese.
2. My main reason for buying manga in Japanese would be that it's a whole lot better reading it in the original language than in some translated (read: distorted) form. The low price is just a bonus. Anime smallmouth
3. I've got books in Japanese (majority), English, Swedish and German. As a parenthesis, I think Swedish's somehow got great potential in conveying much of the Japanese feeling.

1. no, I do not speak japanese
2/3. I have looked into getting manga in French, because I love the language, but haven't really found any that I can order over in the states (any help with that would be appreciated)

fujiiro - where did you get manga in Swedish? I'd like to know because I'm trying to learn that language, too

Dunno if there's any possibility to order from abroad, but I guess it oughtn't be all impossible.

1. I can't read or speak Japanese
2. I do have 19 volumes of Japanese manga, the entire series of Ichigo 100%. I got Ichigo 100 % after hearing about it and reading the translation, it turned into one of favorite mangas so I wanted the hard copies and could only get it in Japanese.
3. Most of my collection is in English but I am looking into extending my Japanese part of my colection just forit being more authentic in a way.

1. I can read and speak some Japanese. I have a little bit of a hard time with kanji. It's my 2nd secondary language O_o
2. I'd like to read them in Japanese, but I might not buy them unless I miraculously understand everything, hehe. They are cheaper, though.
3. My "collection," all of 1 that I own that isn't borrowed, is in English. If they sold the manga I read in Spanish, I might buy it in that.

1. No. I'm only familiar with the obvious phrases like gomen nasai, arigato, nani, sayonara etc.

2. I buy some Japanese manga. I buy Gunnm: Last Order since I like to be updated on how the story goes (it's up to vol.8 in Japan). I have the complete Battle Royale manga since I adore the art and I don't like the Reality-TV changes in the American adaptation, and I have some volumes of Gantz. I guess I just wanted to see how it looked like in tankobon format.

3. Most of my collection are English/American releases. Some Japanese, some Norwegian and a few volumes of German and Italian translations.

1. I know enough Japanese to read and understand the manga I buy, but I'm nowhere near confident enough to try speaking it. Razz
2. I mostly buy Japanese manga. Most of the series I'm interested in are too old or obscure for anyone to license. It's cheaper too.
3. A good 2/3 of my manga collection is in Japanese. I have about 200 in Japanese, and 100 in English, plus exactly three books in Spanish. Razz
