Besides Marine Boy can you think of any anime that was broadcast in Japan and America At the same time? Or was broadcast in america first? This includes OVAs/movies. I wish they still did that, instead of waiting 9 years to show it in America.

Broadcast, I don't know- but the 'Grrl Power' OVA (The Japanese name eldudes me at the moment) actually released in the US before it did in Japan. It's also the only anime out there with a deaf character communicating in sign language. I reccomend it, actually- it's only 20 minutes long, but it's not hard to find dirt-cheap either (Mine was $3 brand-new from ADV.)

Reason why would be that the original company and the licensing company can't come to a firm agreement, which is why you might get nine years of negotiating.

Isn't Afro Samurai coming to the U.S. before it hits Japan?

Another big reason is reverse importation. Media such as CDs and DVDs are quite a bit more expensive in Japan than they are in the U.S. The Japanese don't want to have to compete with the American market for their own products.

You mean "Makasete Iruka!"? What does that mean in English?

Hell yeah! CD's over there are going to cost at least 30 dollars for domestic releases, and when you buy those over here they'll be 40 dollars!!

Didn't .hack//Sign pretty much come out at the same time in the U.S. and Japan?
Whoops! Just found it in the Encyclopedia.
It didn't.
So why do I remember something about it being released at the same time? Am I thinking of the video game?

I'm not sure about .hack, but Soul Calibur III actually came out here before it came out in Japan, with both english and Japanese vocals.
I don't think it proves that anime could do that, though...since SCIII is a fighting game, most of the voice acting is "YA!" "HA!" and the occational "TIME TO DIE!"

it means "leave it to me iruka" i don't think the "iruka" has any meaning...but since i've never read the manga or watched the OVA, i don't know if it's mentioned or used inside the series thus maybe having a meaning.

According to the encyclopedia, SD Gundam Force debuted in the USA before Japan.
Though I don't think anybody really cares.
But hey, it qualifies!
