Miki <3
Obviously, I'm looking forward to this movie. It's been awhile since I watched Idolmaster.

minor correction: movie goers this week will get the vol0 of the manga (while supply lasts presumably). Last week it was some animation sheets.
Not sure what next week's bonus item is, however every week the bonus item will be different (for the...first 6 weeks?)

The modern Idol movement started with Morning Musume being formed in 1997, however the Otaku connection certainly came about with the premier of AKB48 in 2005 with songs whose lyrics were aimed for those that are, or at least feel, culturally outcast and the studio purposely recruit cute yet not necessarily highly talented girls to create a "real life moe group".
Idolmaster itself coincidentally also premiered in 2005 as an Arcade game aimed for a mostly male demographic.
In practice, the advent of Modern Idol based media had been sown a decade in advance and simply everyone is trying to get a piece of the pie while it is still seen as "easy money".
