Sidu is the director? I might actually be interested. Perhaps this movie won't be an utter butchery like the anime was.

The TV show was literally written and composed by the guy that made the whole damn music video series in the first place so what makes you think it'll be any different with the movie? Most of these people are just put in these positions so their fans will ideally shell out for things, not because they're actually good at their positions in a professional sense.
Also the spin in this article neglected to mention the part where the light novels actually suffered a reverse impact post anime and substantially dropped off in sales for the latest volumes and we're talking like over 500% drop from it's average before the anime. You'd think it'd be unrelated but it's humorous to imagine that Aniplex coming into the picture actually maimed yet another trendy brand the way they seem to have practically killed Key/Visual Arts already.

He's not the guy who got to decide the length of the anime and the schedule for its creation, nor was he responsible for the actual directing. You can have the best story in the world, but production-related crap like this can ruin even the best of them.
And anyone who has read the manga can tell that the anime is not the peak of the original creator's writing capabilities. The difference in the writing is practically black and white between the mediums. Something obviously was very wrong with the creation of the anime.
Aniplex is largely to blame here, and MCA was apparently not the first nor last series they screwed over.

Shidu is the animator and director of the original music videos, and also directed the TV series' OP, which was literally one of the only good things about the show and showed more plot and characterization than the entire rest of the trash TV show did in 12 episodes.

Ehhhhh, let's be honest here - the writer is not an amazing writer at all, he's a good song writer but the manga and novel both have massive pacing issues and in general are pretty eh. It's an interesting premise but I don't think the manga or LN are as good as the songs at telling a story and they are far longer so. Not that Shaft aren't also to blame, but you can't pin it solely on them, it would have been Jin's decision to try and to an entire story in 12 episodes and spend like 3 episodes on nothing important. The writing for the show was just as much to blame as the lack of resources allocated by Shaft. It was a joint fudge up. Sasami-san @ unmotivated was much better looking for example but the plot and pacing were still pretty crap.
The TV OP is good but there's really not much plot or characterization, it just kinda skips over the AMV's content and honestly the song is the best part if it. For a studio that often has awesome OP's, I wouldn't say it was anything to write home about.
With that said Sidu does make great music videos so I hope that he can manage to make something good - it will again depend mainly on the budget and support they have though. They have a great eye for aesthetics but so does Shinbo and look how the anime turned out : v At the very least it should be harder to fudge up a movie than an anime.
