I was at the world premiere at Anime Expo and it was simply amazing. This looks like it is shaping up to be hopefully a wonderful show. As for the designs, they are looking pretty good as to be expected from Kyoto Animation. Excited for this one.

I have to wonder why Cattleya is a name that keeps popping up in anime. I get that it's a type of flower, but I only ever see it used in anime. It's just such a bizarre name.

Sexy and elegant girls, handsome and cute boys. Just what I'd expect from KyoAni!

Loving these designs and attire especially (Violet and Benedict Blue already have my attention Anime hyper). The premise sounds like it could be wonderfully surreal if KyoAni chooses to go that route. Whether it's a series of dreamlike vignettes or a more straight-forward story arc, count me the hell in!

Benedict Blue has a rather odd outfit. Those boots do not look very functional.

Neither does Cattleya's attire, I don't really see how that dress can stay on her when it's unbuttoned down to her navel lmao

Well it's a fantasy story so we can expect a lot more leniency when it comes to outfit practicality.

@Megiddo

Orchids are popular flowers for reasons that include its exotic beauty and being difficult to grow, even with samurai and royalty in Japan. Japan has a native urn orchid species (Bletilla striata) that was possibly cultivated by peasants and somewhat resembles the Cattleya genus.

Blog post from Arc Communications, a Japanese translation agency (source) wrote:
When cattleyas were first introduced to Japan, people were amazed by their beauty and compared the appearance of the gorgeous flower to that of a rising sun. Therefore, cattleyas are nicknamed "sunrise orchid" (hinode-ran) in Japan. We can see that cattleyas are popular well beyond Costa Rica, and all over the world!
